Went to my brothers in Bolton today with my mum. Left Mrs Manc hosting family here

Boxing Day is always a buffet, usually here. This year it’s at her sisters. Us two (had COVID), them two (had COVID), FiL (had COVID), two stepdaughters (one had COVID), my eldest (had the vaccine as works in the NHS). Followed every rule pretty much all year so not seeing tomorrow as a problem as nobody else going and not going anywhere other than my house and her house

Drove back from Bolton about an hour ago and there’s a lot of gazebos suddenly appeared so I’m going to guess there’s a lot of rule breaking happening tomorrow

Take kids for a walk tomorrow. Day got worse. Take them Crompton Lodges or something. 

We can hold out heads high and say that we've done things proper, but this years just been shit. Proper shit.

Saw the in laws briefly they popped over and I made them a bacon barn this morning they stayed for an hour then went,

first time in 41 years not seen my gran, that hurt. But needs must, we’ve done everything we can and by the book but know folk who have bent / broken rules which just leaves you feeling a bit like a mug when folk are having a “normal” day.

So despite only having 3 for Xmas dinner here and stopping Yoof going to more of his G/f family we have broken rules. I think. But as the rules state you can have different bubbles in your household it is marginal.

Curious as to whether you had been seeing these people in the same way throughout the year anyway? If people are breaking the rules but their behaviour is actually the same as it has been in recent months then perhaps we will get away without a spike. If people are behaving differently then we will probably see increased infection.

My mum is in my brothers bubble. So was yesterday 2 households in effect or 3? Youngest stepdaughter is in our bubble so does that reduce today by 1?

I don’t think that folks behaviour is massively different tbh. I genuinely think that most people are being sensible and have been throughout. Stupidity has caused localised spikes which have then spread

Kids going to see parents who live elsewhere are exempt. Which, although a god send to me as it stops me having to dress as Batman and climbing Big Ben, isn’t exactly curbing the potential of the virus spreading.

Works for me. Issue we have is, kids are not mine. So they have 2 homes with parents in. Both of the kids have b/f or g/f where parents live apart so that is another 4 households.  Try deciding which kid can see which one ! 
Outside that we have no contact other than her mum was here yesterday for first time in 4 months. As mentioned above we increased our circle by only one so can not see that causing a spike.

Went up the hill from Belmont Road a couple of days ago, intercepted spittlers edge then onto Great hill and back through the old hall ruins.

Used to drop my daughter off at McD’s at stupid o’clock in the morning.

During Ramadan all the ‘local lads’ would descend on the drive through and buy only filet o fish, fish being the only halal meal on the menu.

The car park was full of filet o fish boxes.

Lower rivi barn this week has been unofficial Christmas party venue. The seating near Go Ape has been rammed full of people having picnics and prosecco the 3 times we've been up.
