When you work with food you simply can't be arsed doing the same when you get home. Koolio's fried chicken meal (Daubhill) was my goto supper on the way home... I'd take pot steak pies back from work but give them to the dogs. Quote

I bet the only cottage in this bucolic hellhole is a public bogs where free-spirited gaylords meet to commit gross indecency. Quote

There was a gaff on Deane Road, it is (or was) Rice and Three 2, but I think it was called Chilliz, fuck mop, their kebab sauce was hotter than Mercury. And this is from someone who'd easily use a bottle of Windward Chilli Sauce a week (79p Home Bargains). I think Koolio's is still going twenty odd years on. Quote

Not surprised it’s still going it’s between 3 mosques and opposite a school. Discount off chicken from atcha butchers down the road definitely. How atxha butchers has a license to sell meat is beyond me, kosovan refugees wouldn’t buy meat from there Quote

How atxha butchers has a license to sell meat is beyond me, kosovan refugees wouldn’t buy meat from there When I was playing happy families with some girl living in a shithole we neglected to buy any Christmas dinner ingredients on Christmas Eve afternoon, preferring to get shitfaced in The Old Three instead. Went up Daubhill on foot on Christmas Day evening to rustle sommat up. Only shop open was behind Sunninghill school, I had to act out what I wanted, I don't think they'd ever seen a white face before. Paxo and pigs in blankets would be eighty-sixed... Got it home, the meagre ingredients they had in, spatchcocked the tiny poulets, they were green inside and stank of bleach. Ended up eating delivered pizzas and fries for our Christmas meal instead. That Manchester Supermarkets on Cannon Street sells everything from everywhere, but I wouldn't touch owt from the butchers there, fucking stinks. Edited August 12, 2021 by Youri McAnespie Quote

MickyD Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Used to be a pie shop opposite the Moss Rose in Kearsley. They had a little metal tea pot of gravy on top of the pie warmer from which they filled meat pies with stuff to spill down your shirt. Messiest but best tasting pies in Britain. Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Marmite is shite, goes everywhere. A mate got carted off to Australia in his teens to live there a while... Brought back Vegemite and we all got a taste for it, far superior to Marmite - you could only get it at the Sainsbury's what's a bingo place now. Was dear an' all... Still buy a jar now and then. Marmite is crap, unspreadable, goes everywhere, you end up chucking the jar in the end. Nobody has ever finished a jar of Marmite, ever. Quote
