  • I'm in + 1. Not selling 5k tickets to 10k+ ST holders is piss poor, frankly. I don't give a shit about... it's only Stockport/the membership scheme/it's not free/it's on a Sunday etc etc

Some absolute amazing work between Thomasson and Williams today running around the middle of the park.

Funny how others see it differently as I thought Williams was getting pulled about all over the place late on.

Thomason did well when we were on the front foot, especially for the short while we were in front, but it was a big mistake for their first goal. Won’t criticise him for being knackered as he obviously isn’t getting much game time. Oh for the luxury of a larger squad and then we could maybe loan him out to get a bit more experience.

Stockport fa cup final, new manager syndrome and 1-0 down (again), was always going to be tough.

We will get behind the goal and 2 blocks at their gaff (1800)

old style footy ground, under the lights - be a tough test and need to watch the side streets off the main roundabout....

Football Ground Guide reckons 2,200 (1,300 behind the goal and 900 along the side) but, based on 9,500ish capacity, we’re only entitled to 1,400 so anything above that would be a bonus really.

Two good posts @Johnnyrotten

Agree with most of what you said.

However the comment above I don’t think is as definitive as you’re making out. I think heading in to these last 2 games we were low on confidence with a multitude of on/off field problems which were disrupting all the squad, in all areas defence/ midfield/attack. I don’t think we’ve come out the other side yet, but these last 2 games have provided 5 goals.

And yes I know it’s against lower league opposition and I know we are heavily reliant upon Dapo, but we need to see if those goals for Doyle and Kachunga spark them into league form now and we need to have patience with Baka who I’m sure will provide the missing strength you mention.

Yes it’s a current problem, but one which I feel we can/are addressing, not one which we right-off yet with the current personnel.

Regardless of whether we turn our form around pre-Christmas I still think Evatt will want strength in depth to address the problems you highlight.

Fair comments.

Its just my take, that I simply don't see the ability to penetrate the opposition defence.  I don't see a lack of confidence, I see the players playing at their true level.  Lee and Dapo playing as well as ever, Kachunga slightly better than his average.  I don't see lack of confidence.  But as you say its against lower league opposition, today was a relatively important game, we want to stay in the cup and it was 2 full strength teams.  Rochdale was irrelevant, that cup is irrelevant to me, simply because the opposition aren't at full strength, nobody takes it seriously.  Aside from that nobody says we aren't good enough to compete against league 2 teams, course we are.  League one is different gravy, and without being unkind 90% of teams in this league have more up front than we have.  On Baka, I'm a fan, he's physical and he has a goal and assist in him, but for me he's wasted out wide, he's a centre forward whether its one up front or 2 up front.  IE plays him out of position in my opinion and while that's the case we won't see the best of him.  If its got to be 1 up front, its either Doyle or Baka.

It’s no coincidence Doyle & kachunga have played slightly better against L2 & NL opponents in the last week, it’s about getting to the transfer window the best we can still a few games yet though

called it weeks ago baptiste is a liability needs binning off with a few others

Regards tickets yes they should sell providing it’s not on tv and also a potential shite 2nd round game could dampen it

Chill out tony

he's got a point tbf

for all the possesion we have, we create very little, dread to think how the season would look like if we were to lose Dapo for any length of time

I suppose it all depends on what @captainmed definition of creativity is.

But for me you’ve got Dapo with so much skill and flair

MJ with whose passing is sublime and so accurate and long-ranging

Confident, ball playing centre backs, of which there can’t be many better than Santos at this level.

Attacking, exciting and penetrating full backs when John and Jones are firing.

Lee and Sheehan show loads of composure and intelligence in the middle of the park

The only argument you can have is that we are not seeing it as consistently as we’d like at the moment, but to suggest we have “not an ounce of creativity in the whole team” is bafflingly off the mark.

Im really not sure how ive copped for that crock of shit

We are ball 32, draw on itv tonight

Is replay Tuesday or Wednesday next week?

Does this make issues for the charity game?

Tricky one as Evatt in a no win situation.

England are on ITV on the Monday so can presumably rule that one out, but I expect there will be TV games on the Tuesday, Wednesday and even the Thursday wouldn't surprise me.

cheers fellas

Stockport fan in peace, good game yesterday both sides taking opportunities to shoot themselves in the foot our first being a gift, your 1st Hogan giving ball away after receiving it in acres but you ruthlessly punished us for it, the 2nd our keeper Ross has a mare should hold initial tame shot or at least push it wide or out for a corner and then should save the rebound but more than a hint of offside about it

I'd say our 2nd was just about the pick of goals with least reason to find fault for, we dont really need the money but a replay is nice and it was more for us about giving hope of better things to come given our outlay we were utterly garbage under our previous manager and in reckon we did that and good to have fans and players all pulling in same direction again which wasnt happening after Gannon's departure

There were moments where the difference in divisions showed but not enough from your point of view and thought we were good value all in all for the replay plus weve never lost at Reebok/Macron/Unibol whatever its called now! Dapo Adolayafan was the best player on pitch by a mile

Finally thanks for the warm applause in the 18th min for George Thompson i know his family appreciated it and was emotional for them

Be nice to get a good incentive in draw for either side get a good incentive to potentially earn 3rd round place

I'd imagine replay be on TV only game i could see threatening that is solihull vs wigwam, am sure Mark Stott will reciprocate the favour with cheap ticket prices for the replay too and you'll get the uncovered railway end and 2 blocks of the popside which im sure wont have much trouble selling as there be no daft ,membership schemes!

Ive only just got back from Bolton after becoming ill with i think food poisoning from dodgy kebab night before so missed minibus home and booked into Beehive Premier Inn for the night to essentially just s**t for hours in it, which was an unexpected end to a decent day out!

Good luck for rest of season (replay excepted) and hope we join you guys back in EFL in not too distant future

Fair play lad, was a good competitive game although you’ll have the happier set of fans after it. Your players put in a performance for the big away following.

Nice to see both sets of fans applauding on minute 18.

Good luck for rest of season

Bigger issue for us at minute than how much we're making of our possession is how cheaply we keep giving it away and how poor we've become without it. Maybe we weren't under so much pressure in possession last season, teams close us down quicker and more physically in this league, but we also don't appear to be pressing with the same collective intensity. No doubt IE and his staff can produce some stats that disprove it, but to my eyes we aren't quite at the levels of last season, for whatever reason.

Our squad is threadbare. Need a few new faces in Jan.

@Zico We all crashing at your gaff for the replay?

Maybe 90% is unfair, of course I haven't seen every team, but reasonable to say 75% or 80% based on a combination of stats and what we've seen against us?  We've played Doyle up front on his own in every game bar Plymouth I think, surely not many have less potent striker(s)?  He's not doing it in league games, whether you look at goals, assists, near misses,  pace or hold up play.  Yes a great work ethic and a character that you want around the place.  But if he's going to play, surely he needs help ie a strong or quick partner to play off (Baka?).

Even Morecambe and Cambridge have a striker banging 'em in.  If there are teams with less up front for goals or options, I don't think I've seen them yet although from memory Lincoln did look impotent against us.

We've all missed buses home due to a bout of the shits, mate.

Stick around, mate, you'll fit right in.

PS fair/rational post too.
