Next 7 Games - Predictions?

Last year I made a "Last 7 Games" topic, for our final run-in of the League Two campaign, as they were our most important fixtures of the season.

This time round, I'd argue that these next 7 games are our most important. We really need to climb the table this month if we have any hopes of achieving something meaningful this season (i.e. play-offs).

I know a lot of people won't even want to consider play-offs right now. But humour me in giving your predictions in what is going to be a season-defining month.

  • Morecambe (A) 21st Place
  • Charlton (H) 15th Place
  • Oxford (A) 6th Place
  • Burton (A) 10th Place
  • Wimbledon (H) 20th Place
  • Lincoln (H) 18th Place
  • MK Dons (A) 4th Place

I'll go first:

Morecambe 1 - 3 Bolton

Bolton 3 - 0 Charlton

Oxford 2 - 2 Bolton

Burton 1 - 1 Bolton

Bolton 4 - 1 Wimbledon

Bolton 2 - 0 Lincoln

MK Dons 2 - 1 Bolton

Feel like I'm being way too positive predicting only one loss from 7 games. But that's what I've come to... 14 points from 21.

Guessing that will put us in somewhere like 8th. Feel like there'll be some massive bullshit go against us as there always is, either a bullshit penalty, or bullshit offside and Burton and MK Dons to me seem like the most likely ones to throw that sort of thing up, not sure why.

Those last 4 games look favourable. A Doncaster, H Stanley, A Cheltenham, H Fleetwood.   Teams that are currently in Play Off positions. Last 4 games. 3rd MK Dons - H Sheff We

I know I'm dreaming here, but imagine Wigan dropped off in form and we ended up facing them home and away in the play-offs.

I can't envisage anything worse than getting knocked out by those cunts.

We need 13 wins from 18 now to guarantee the playoffs

We'll make the playoffs and we will be the form team going into the playoffs.

Sorted.

It would be awful but on the flip side, imagine we knocked them out, perfect revenge.

Can't see it happening anyway, they'll go up automatically for sure.

The top 2 are head and shoulders better than anything else in this league over a full season.

He's right you know.

Everyone else bang average so I reckon you'll get play offs.

I think we've maybe left it a little bit late, I see us being 2/3 points adrift of the play-offs sadly - next season though we'll be out of the traps faster than a greased whippet

Rotherham are head and shoulders above. Wigan not sure. Maybe I'm just bias but...

https://footystats.org/england/efl-league-one/xg

..according to these stats Rotherham have the best xG and the best xGA(expected goals against) in the league.

Wigan have the second best xGA to be fair but are 10th for xG, one place below us funnily enough.

They've also had a lot of stuffy last minute winners. Not saying they don't deserve to be up there, obviously they have a good team but I think the table may flatter them slightly.

Obviously can't just boil everything down to xG and xGA I appreciate that. Fuck em though I'm taking whatever I can 😀

We've also finished against Rotherham, Sunderland, Wycombe which is no bad thing.

Someone on here said months ago Rotherham would win the league and comfortably (whilst they were down around mid table as it happened)  Can’t think who it was.

It’d certainly be good for our goal difference.

We'll be wanting to delete this thread when we lose on Saturday!

W5 D1 L1. And we are in the hunt

  • Morecambe (A) DRAW
  • Charlton (H) WIN
  • Oxford (A) LOSE
  • Burton (A) DRAW
  • Wimbledon (H) WIN
  • Lincoln (H) WIN
  • MK Dons (A) LOSE

11 Points............

It depends who we get the points against

3 against oxford would be massive

Oxford could be the one

Missed the loss a few years back, and never done it so that would be great to go to

think we can win all them but Oxford & MK away draw. Will that be enough of a platform for play offs? I. backing us to make play offs and meet sunderland again

Sorry to bring us back down to earth but would happily take us staying up this season. Yeah I can be negative but I think fans are getting a bit over excited after a few good wins. Focus on games individually like Mr Evatt does.

Given our investment in players, improvements and ambition, just staying up from this point would be a big disappointment.

Minimum expectation from me now is to at least challenge the playoffs. If we fall short it’s understandable but we should be trying to push for top 6.

Morecambe 1 Bolton 2

Bolton 2 Charlton 1

Oxford 1 Bolton 1

Burton 0 Bolton 1

Bolton 2 Wimbledon 0

Bolton 3 Lincoln 1

MK Dons 2 Bolton 1

..... the one I really want us to nail before the end of this season is those pie-eating cnuts away in April.

We have a very fresh squad and we have players on the bench who we can bring on to rest the starters, the key games are the ones against the teams in the top 8 we must win as many of these games as possible we have Oxford, MK, Wigan, Sheff Wed, Plymouth, these games will play a massive part on where we end up, its a tall order think we have left to much to do... but worth a punt at the 100/1 I got on promotion.
