HMRC is c.£2m

kit suppliers are due some from shop stock not yet paid for

players

one or two rumours of clubs owed from previous transfers

not much else to be fair

If you went watching Bolton 0 Wigan 4  it isn't fishing to say Wigan have a much better squad than Bolton. If that squad is kept they are going to be a better team

The team we had that day was severely weakened by injuries, I checked the team we sent out that day a few weeks back and it sent a shiver down my spine, Brockbank and Gordon were the full backs and dixon in the net... need I say anything more.

Makes sense then if he can get the ground

2 month wages for players will be couple of million and they will also have to buy the club from the current owners, wonder what the current owners want for the business?

£1.9m per month according to the club last week. So £3.8m. Plus the still unpaid bond @ £2.4m.

So, £6.2m due. £4.3 already outstanding & £1.9m in the final week of this month.

Bonus are usually paid out in the final payment of the year. I've zero idea what they may add to.

Plus the, I understood £3.2m to the tax. But, whatever, it's wanted & now.

A casual totting up shows c.£9-9½m inside a fortnight simply to continue functioning.

-8, possibly -12 points, plus an extra -12 if in Administration. Salary, fees and wage restrictions on new players. ... that's before they try to start next season.

Been saved apparently

To get a deal done so quickly he must be prepared to get his money out.I don't know how Wigan can find them

If they keep their squad together I would expect them to win the play offs if they aren't in the top two.The 8 point deduction should go to 12 but their squad is at least than many points better than Bolton's in my opinion.

I agree. I'd have a few quid on them to go up even with the deduction

This fella might fancy a bash at football, who knows

But it seems more likely he just wants the stadium

It could well be out of the vanilla and into the ripple for em

They are very fortunate. Disappointed they didn’t go through more pain.

The prospective new owner works in data so will probably have connections that can use data for a footballing business model.

Gonna be another tough game against them this season I fear.

Worst thing is the new owner went to Bolton School apparently. Should be banned from the town

Danson the front for basically the rugby club taking over the football club so they get the stadium… soon as rugby club funded over and above the football club the shit will hit the fan, if common sense prevailed the football lot should keep quiet and be happy they’ve got a team to support… doubt that’ll happen given the hatred between the 2 clubs.

We are so incredibly lucky to have Sharon Brittan and Football Ventures. Thank fuck we didn't get bailed out by some foreign money launderer. 🙏

We got bailed out by an ex car salesman who had been disqualified as a director before turning up to save us

He still took us to the brink

Reading and Wigan are currently in that phase

Whether any one honourable comes in for them next remains to be seen

Thinking about it, egg chucking is a bit shit, and nobody really likes or bother watching it, even if Wigan RL became the best team in the world, so what, it's not that much of an achievement and there's certainly no money to be made. If, and it's a massive stretch, but if he can get them back in the PL or up towards the top of the Championship, then maybe he could flip the club for a decent amount.

Hopefully though, he just wants the ground, and will ensure that Wigan Athletic operate within their means, which could be interesting....

As someone who has worked for Mike Danson's companies for the best part of 20 years, this is undoubtedly good news for Wigan.  I don't think he will write a blank cheque for them (although he has the cash to be able to do that).  However, I don't think buying the football is any kind of front just to protect the rugby.  He will want both to be successful.

He might want both to be successful but he'll surely want it sustainably. I'm not an expert on RL and certainly not Wigan Warriors but I don't see them throwing money around. Blokes like Danson don't build wealth by flogging dead horses like Wigan Athletic. He might keep them from the cold embrace of the tax man and the receiver.  He'll no doubt sort out the immediate debts that present an existential threat. But will he bankroll them in the way that the lost lot did in their initial days? Very doubtful. Words like "realistic", "sustainable" and "stable" appear within their news release. They're not the words of someone prepared to chuck millions at them.

Let's see....
