gonzo Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Think he'd have been gone by now if it was on. Think we all just need a fresh start. Watching Brentfords goal yesterday thinking why can we ever hit teams on the break with fast direct balls and get Dion in one on one etc. I actually long for that kind of play. Quote

It meant little in the game as it happened but that was a brilliant goal, typical of many Brentford score, the pace and accuracy. I'd enjoy having a ST at theirs Quote
Zog1 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 There are two saving graces this season, we're not a million miles from the playoffs. Plus we do have a decent amount of flexability and talent within the playing squad, so provided Evatt does go, any manager coming in will only need to make a few changes. Quote
JimmyRiddle Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 It's as it's always been, Evatt rarely gets more out the sum of the parts of our team, more often farl ess. Successful managers add value to the collective, does Evatt?? I don't think he ever has, I think loads of managers could have got us out of the 4th division. Since then we have flattered to deceive, with more of the better times driven by players we don't own, Trafford, Bradley, Maghoma. Now he has an average squad (why is another question!) is he gonna do a Paul Warne set us up to get results by hook or by crook for promotion?? Is he fuck, so just get rid. The frustrating thing is all these tactical failings have been there always, he has just had decent players to mask it. However, no longer is the case it seems. Pressure is a privilege Ian, remember! We can just about see land again in the distance this year but fear we’re running out of energy to make it and suspect this captain may drop the oar yet again. In our lifeboat wouldn’t it be a good idea to pass the oar to someone else who may not drop it this time? You're been watching too much of In The Night Garden 😁 Quote
Dimron Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 .I actually long for that kind of play If on Saturday, I had just moved to the area and i was a neutral looking for a local league team to go and regularly watch, guess which one I'd pick... and it wouldn't just be for the scoreline Quote

I remember Dapo ripping Ipswich a new one when we won 5-2. Dion in the Sunlun game… So many of our players have regressed since then. Only GT has improved under him. Quote

Mantra Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Rapidly losing passion for the season. Had it in waves last season too where it felt like we’re good enough for playoffs but not good enough for autos, which essentially means waiting until May for a 3-game-lottery in which we never seem to have the odds in our favour. The only thing that i think will get some passion back for me, is… a) challenging for the autos, or; b) getting a new manager. ..and neither seem likely at the moment. Appreciate everything SB has done for the club and respect the patience she has given to IE. Rather that than hiring and firing willynilly. But it’s getting to the point now that it feels like favouritism. Too many weird goings on with IE, alleged gambling, messages to reporters, pops at the fans, woe is me attitude, jobs for his mates, stubborn tactics and substitution policy. As long as he’s in touching distance of promotion I suppose SB is “justified” being patient but it feels like putting off euthanising a terminally ill pet at the moment. Just put him out of his misery and let’s get a new puppy to make things happier. Edited December 16, 2024 by Mantra Quote
gonzo Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Said it yesterday but it's just all so fucking stale. The bloke must be bored as we are. As Zico says we are just in a continuous cycle of a few good results all ended by a big game capitulation. It's just tiring Quote

When he joined he was saying about how football is an entertainment sport and we should be expansive and free flowing. Seems like it has been lost along the way somewhere and we have become a vanity project of possession and playing out from the back. Utterly bemused how we haven’t tried switching to a back 4 in some capacity at any point. I know we have recruited specifically for the back 3 but Jesus, it’s the same issues over and over again. Just trying something new could spark some life and creativity. Everyone looks terrified to take a risk Quote

barrycowdrill Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 I’m careful not to compare this period to others under Parky, Hill and Lennon for example as the circumstances around the club are very different. However there are some similarities creeping in. Apathy from the stands, frustration but above all, monotony. It’s very quickly become a chore again to get up there on a Saturday and be vocal and supportive. Our presence on the whole will of course continue. But I’m back in the position of not particularly being arsed either way whether I’m there or not. Currently, Barnsley I can’t be arsed. Rather spend it with my family and enjoy that time with them, only doing Lincoln as it’s the last game before my eldest moves to Oz so we’re on the piss and in the LoV. not had that obligatory feeling for a few years. We’re fickle of course and a few positive results can swing the mood. But even then it’ll only be short term before we’re right back here saying the same shit in the same situation Quote

As Zico says we are just in a continuous cycle of a few good results all ended by a big game capitulation. It's just tiring Yeah and the thing is as well is we are where we are because the manager knows he won't find a club this size and have it this good and with as much freedom that's he's been given because we are a rarity in football. It was the perfect job for Evatt, we were at the very bottom of the EFL, fresh start, completely new squad and no fans in the stadium for extra pressure. There's no club with the history of ours and that are getting 25k crowds like us that was that low in the pyramid. The only way really was to go up and that happened. But it's been 4 years since then and we have had multiple near sell outs watching truly pathetic performances from our beloved football team. Most importantly, Evatt is also here because our owners are very cautious(some say scared to make a decision). If we weren't an anomaly or let's say if Evatt only came in after we already got promoted, he would have gone, and probably gone after Wembley. But Sharon and Evatts personal relationship is now straining and breaking this football club. A replacement isn't a guarantee, no. But it is certainly what is needed to unite the football club again. Because whatever the manager is saying is not being listened to by all of his players and certainly not by the fans. The only way forward is if Evatt goes and the longer he stays the worse it is going to get. Edited December 16, 2024 by Lostock Whites Quote
