Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

If someone comes for Dion I reckon he's off.

As shit as that would be.

Not really. We don’t play to Dions strengths, in fact we don’t play to any of our strikers strengths really so it wouldn’t be shit if any of them left. Get a big man in up front to hold the ball up properly and it might be a different story for all of them.

Fair play for going out of his way to both correct the journalists and acknowledge how great we were last night. Proud to have been part of that last night. Really enjoyed it 👏

“They (the fans) were unbelievable,” he said. “You can see the effect and impact that has on our players. When we are positive and when they back the players like they have done tonight the players really respond to that. And that is why for the first time in a while we have enjoyed those moments with the fans.

“That’s our fault, our problem, I get that, because of the performances and results but when we are together you can see that we have got a brilliant connection.”

I watched the match on Sky last night... did you notice IE had a bit more of a spring in his step when getting off the bus? The confidence from the chairman has probably done him some good. Also the players were fully suited and booted like for a cup final.

Yeah, needs decent mods, gone totalitarian.

There was a lot to like about last night. I’d like to think that as fans we could all see those positives, without going over the top that “we have turned a corner” etc etc

I thought our performance last night was woeful bordering on embarrassing and no interview spaffing over the fans is going to change anything.

It’s clear to me that Evatt doesn’t like the fans or in particular the criticism he’s received. He needs putting out to pasture and can fuck right off as far as I’m concerned. We’ll be here long after he’s left

Right on cue prove that no matter what he says some people will find a way to take issue. He said the complete opposite of what is "clear to you".

Good that he has made a statement to that effect.

Do wish he'd think a bit though, before he makes his comments, however they were intended.

Anyway, no wonder it's quiet on here.

If many are out, preparing for Christmas the  they may be gone some time.

Stiff drink later.

I’m far from being in the Evatt in camp, but you only have to look at how many players were missing last night to know that going to top of the league and getting a clean sheet and a point is a decent result, no matter how we played (and we weren’t as bad as we have been for the past 3/4 games).

We desperately need another centre mid back, or one added to the squad early in the window, because until we can have 3 genuine centre mids in midfield, we won’t be playing much better in my opinion - it’s the absolute crux of all our problems.

My take is that he's being a bit disingenuous having a pop at BBC Manchester. They reported what he said, and even listening to the full interview it wasn't massively out of context. While it wasn't an out and out dig at the fans, he's clearly affected and upset by criticism from the fans, hence the only one man doing my best / defending his record / proving people wrong etc elements. He's also correct in the sense that the people whose opinion matters most - in terms of him being allowed to carry on doing his best - are the board.

I think he was more annoyed about the out of context soundbite they used, rather than the whole interview.

He was right, it was clickbait.

All that said, I'm glad he addressed it and stated in the strongest possible way his appreciation for the fans. That was absolutely necessary, and fair do's, I think he did it well.

Personally I think we need a change of manager, but there's fuck all I can do about it. The board back him, he's here (probably) for the rest of the season, so let's hope by some miracle we can arrest the regression of the last year or so and turn things around.

Might as well get fully behind them at least until it becomes untenable.

I still reserve the right to moan on here though 😁

There's an awful lot of psycho analysis self help nonsense in all his interviews at the moment.

Rather than all that I'd rather he focused on the matches.

He's found himself in the hole that all married blokes experience sometimes... no matter what you might innocently say or do, she that shall be obeyed leaps onto every vowel, phrase and twitch and throws it back at you!

As you say, better to say nowt.

I just don't know why people listen to them.

Last night's exactly the sort of game where we shouldn't give a fuck about the performance, it's all about getting a result.

We played well away to Derby last year but got nowt from it. Had we played poorly and scabbed a draw, we may well be in a very different situation today.

They're top of the league and it was an away game. We got a well deserved point. Don't recall Baxter making a real save. Some good last ditch defending. Save of the game was their keeper stopping Matetes shot and we could've easily won in the last second.

Far from woeful or embarrassing imo.

Because it was complete backs to the wall, pinned in our own half and anywhere will do every time we got the ball. We posed absolutely no threat whatsoever injuries or otherwise.

They’re top of the league and unbeaten in 18 yes but they looked poor imo. Our team pre-Christmas last year would’ve battered them. I believe even with demos/sheehan last night it would’ve been the same story. It was like Birmingham away and fortunately for us, one of the million balls into the box didn’t drop favourably for them.

Everyone says we played well at derby, I was at that game. We were on top for first 20 mins and bod missed that sitter then when gayle went off the game totally swung in their favour and we didn’t lay a glove on them. Same old story
