So we really are smaller than Wrexham

Did you read the article? They didn’t want a big(ger) club.

“Ker admitted that before pinning their dreams on the team, there were conversations around the potential purchasing of Bolton Wanderers.

“They were available for what was a massively reduced price for a club of that size, history and infrastructure. But we felt it was just too big a fish, in a way.”

"He was trying to be progressive and building from the back but it often didn't work because they weren't great at dealing with the press," said BBC Radio Devon sports reporter Alan Richardson.

"I think other teams sussed them out and there was no plan B"

No point replacing him with Rooney then, ha!

We're more sure we'll achieve nothing with Evatt than we are that he's staying forever - this whole tedious period is just a waiting game for the inevitable. The best think for Bolton is him leaving as soon as possible, so I'll continue to hope for that thanks.

He’s not being replaced by anybody, surely we know that now so can we please try and focus on being positive in the new year and forget replacements we won’t have whoever’s available.

Agreed, much as there's a lot of frustration with Evatt, where we're at etc (including from me) it's pointless talk really. In an article about Mansfield today, Iles looks back at that game there that set us off on the run that took us up in 2021. We were sixth bottom at the time. There wasn't panic trigger pulling then so there won't be now while we're in the top 10.

100%. I think the majority of us would prefer a change but it’s not coming so we may as well face it. I’m a Wanderers fan not an Evatt fan and I want us to win every game so please let’s just focus on and discuss that until the time comes for it to be meaningful to us.

We don’t know if Evatt is staying for the long term, just the short term after being given the dreaded vote of confidence..

If we lose the next 4 away games, do you honestly believe that Sharon & Co can let him remain in charge for the next home game?

I doubt it 🤔

But, we probably won’t lose the next 4 games.. so my comments are irrelevant 🤣

Well that's quite the patronising post

Just read his comments I give up he really is delusional we lost ffs .

I've finished reading his bullshit. I could do his press statements tbh. Same as his immovable tactics & pre-planned substitutions.

There's a belief in your systems and there's sheer obstinance. He's some way past obstinance. Yesterday killed it for me. I'll keep an eye out but will try not to be invested for the rest of this failed season.

Oh and George Johnston by the way! My God, did any of his passes in the 2nd half find their way to a white shirt!!?

Wouldn’t be fair to go into details, but we had a good chat and drink with Will Forresters mum and dad after the Barnsley game.

He needs to come back into the reckoning along with Toal IMO.

From what I’ve seen of Forrester, both ability and his mentality, I reckon he’s going to end up spending most of his career at Championship level as a very solid centre back in a conventional back 4.

Without wanting to sound like everything is Evatt’s fault, I do genuinely think that Forrester is one player that is so far from his potential due to both the system and the constant rotation / dropping. To be fair to Evatt, he signed him, but I think to really see the best of him he’s got to be playing for a manager that plays 4 at the back - hopefully that’s with us because if it is I think we’ll end up with a relatively valuable asset on our hands.

Khumbeni

Sheehan, Morley

That midfield in a 4-3-3 would be infinitely more balanced, stronger and technically superior to any midfield we have put out in the better part of the last 18 months.

And completely over run most games.

Some good passing, but barely a tackle between them.

He’s been poor for a while now he’s another who when injured was put on a pedestal when in fact he’s been bullied by big forwards everytime he played, agree with regards to his distribution it’s awful and him Ann Jones need dropping.

Think Ann Jones would be better a beret CB then Gethin LOL .

Back to inventing players abilities again.

There's nothing wrong with the collection of midfielders we've got.

Helps if you play a system with an actual working midfield mind.

Listened to talk sport last night a Luton fan was going on about Edward’s playing 3 at the back no width etc refusing to change the system sounds like somebody we know.

From what I've seen, Khumbeni is the exact opposite of that description.

A more traditional and physical defensive midfielder type, only concern is whether he'd got the ability to not have to be carried in a team that wants to dominate possession.

Evatt's argument will be that the system he plays has helped us improve, year on year, during his time.

He'll also argue he tried to change it at the start of this season and develop a Plan B.

For all the accusations of him being too stubborn, I'd argue he was the opposite then. All he needed to do post Oxford was replace Maghoma, bring in genuine competition for Dion and possibly bring in another centre half to support / challenge Santos. He overthought it and here we are. We're too far down the track for him to change things now. Reliable players like Jones, Thomason and Charles suddenly can't do the basics (that's pressure and nothing else), and his replacements either weren't needed or don't fit the system (Arfield / McAtee)

Genuinely think after some time away from Bolton, Evatt will come back at a decent club and do a good job.

I'm not too fussed about him spending money this window. Any new manager that replaces him will be expected to play the Bolton way now, and use the players delivered to them by Markham / Ludonautics. That's how it should be.

But the fella needs putting out of his misery. Not sure how many others noticed, but he spent the last 2 mins of yesterdays game with his head in his hands on the bench. Not criticising him here - he spent 92 mins stood on his own in the dugout (not once did a member of his coaching staff go and talk to him). But I genuinely felt for the guy in that last 2 mins. He looked more like a beaten man than I've seen all season.
