Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

You might be right. You might be wrong. But the fact that you think this just proves he’s never been able to create a proper connection between himself and the fans.

Or maybe we know that they are just professionals. FSA was only in for himself toward the end.

Think Evatt was very lucky we were covid bound at the start and he’s never had to build it. We’ve just been going well. Now we’ve had 14 months of pretty much madness / decline there is no bond there to Support

I think that’s a bit harsh.

Dougie Freedman wasn’t arsed about our club - twat. He’s come out and admitted as much.

Of course there’s always a selfish aspect to managers, Allardyce told lies at the end to go somewhere bigger, even Rioch was happy his CV got him a gig at Arsenal - but you can’t question their passion and commitment while they were here.

Its ending horribly for him and at this moment in time he’s probably not very keen on anything to do with the club!

But I don’t think his passion for the club and his job is in question.

There’s no way his legacy will be someone who wasn’t arsed - like the wanker Dougie.

If the fans were giving Evatt verbal abuse telling him to f off etc he's bound to snap back, he shouldn't have though, he should have just gone down the tunnel and reported them to the stewards he has to be the bigger person he is the boss

He may have passion for his job but his whole persona (from what we see I’ve obviously never met him blah blah blah) is he is all about Ian.

if he did care about the club he would have stopped 2 in midfield. However he is trying to be like kompany in the hope another team believe his visions

Id prefer he just told me to fuck off

Getting stewards involved wouldve been seen as worse, imo

thought his "fuck off" would've been a bit more animated or aggressive

Ive just had another gamder and its still fuck all

In fact, it look like if its directed at anybody, its somebody in the comfy seats

There’s plenty of managers who care and have passion, who make poor football decisions.

He’s not choosing 2 midfielders because he can’t be arsed! 😂

Freedman never wanted to be here!

Nothing like Freedman.

I’m not trying to detract from his many faults, both tactically and character wise.

But I’ll never be convinced he couldn’t be arsed.

Just because he wants to be doesn’t make him care about the club. He caress about his career.

As we agreed above, as do all managers, even the best ones.

Time will tell whether he veers into Megson territory and goes all anti-fan at the end.

But I’d argue he’s more in this territory than Freedman. In your argument, a much stronger argument than Evatt, Megson didn’t care spunking £11 mill on Elmander and playing reserves at Lisbon.

But neither of them IMO are in the territory of can’t/couldn’t be arsed like Freedman.

Do we know what the fans were shouting?

Can see it's upset a lot of folk but I'm just not really arsed

Same here. Not really arsed about anything BWFC related at the moment. Only going tomoz to test my fleece out.

If it was an isolated incident then it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but it's the fact that for over a number of years now he's proved to be a quite unpleasant person.

Football aside, gambling issues, sexual videos etc. only scratching the surface, even this season he nearly headbutted a young Shrewsbury player. The guy is washed.

And now he says fuck off to his own fans, even the ones in probably the least hostile part of the ground.

And Sharon wants this man to represent this proud football club?

And this is all personal stuff btw, not even adding the most important thing, his football and tactics have failed us on the pitch.

Folk could dismiss all of his personal stuff aside because we were doing well. But we have been poor for over a year now and with the two entities combined, you have a horrid concoction.

Tomorrow night might exceed toxic levels never seen before at the Reebok

Compare that prick to a proper manager like Bruce

I remember Rioch getting some shit from someone in Manny Road South. Right behind where he was sat. He turned round, looked at him and then walked down and opened the gate and went onto the terrace and was right in the blokes face. Anybody else remember that?

Not a great deal in it for me, as you say. He hasn't eyeballed anyone, pointed the finger, flicked the Vs, just a hugely frustrated little gob-off. We don't know what exactly was said to prompt it but no doubt it was pretty industrial.

It's an unedifying part of the modern game where folk choose to sit in proximity to managers and players (usually the opposing ones) to spend 90 mins giving them dogs abuse, then if one of them snaps and flicks them a quick V they report them to the Police.

I used to go to Rochdale fairly regularly when Hill and Flitcroft were there, had tickets in main stand one night, game wasn't going well and the constant dialogue between them and a couple of blokes in the stand was full-on. That little exchange on Saturday was nothing by comparison

I've only ever sat in the area behind the managers & players at the Reebok once, at the time that Nolan was getting abuse,& the bellendery was off the scale as they tried to outdo each other . I'd want to know what was said to him first before i'd condemn IE.

I used to go in the Manny Rd North & the stuff aimed at the  opposition bench was brutal & often very funny but nobody would complain if it was given back. At a game v Wimbledon, Vinny Jones & co gave back as good as we gave them & at the end they came over to face MRN & there was a bit of mutual appreciation & laughter.

Anybodt else not really gire a shit? He can tell the whole crowd to fuck off over the PA if he gets 3 points tomorrow night as far as I'm concerned.

Well Wembley after he as won the playoffs I wouldn’t have a problem with calling us all out for wanting him sacked .

looking at that video doesn’t look like much Something or nothing it’s a football match after all bit of passion . No one would be moaning about that video if we were sat top of the league

Maybe Sharon should just give him a touch line ban line when he swears at refs or nuts players

I do. Southend at home in a midweek match, our first year back in division 2. Rioch had changed the formation from 442 to 532 to tighten things up and it wasn't working. Rioch came up to the gate giving an older bloke some pelters, who tbf, gave as much back!

“First of all, I do apologise if any offence was taken,” he said. “I was walking back down the tunnel, I didn’t stop to look at any one person or target anybody in particular, I was just so annoyed with what had happened in the first half, the football, and it all came out.

“It was pure frustration at what I’d seen on the pitch. I didn’t mean it to come across as aggressive towards anybody, especially the fans. It was me letting my emotions out and it wasn’t personal at all.”

Yeah, line under a nothing incident.

Needs to be sacked for inept management instead.
