We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons. 

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

I've just read in the BN that Evatt reckons players are "shocked" by the level of vitriol from the fans. In this one sentence he sums it all up.

What on Earth do you expect when you turn up as manager of Bolton Wanderers Football Club and get smashed 5-0 at Stockport and under-perform against a sequence of other clubs? We won't even get in to the abysmal consecutive non-appearances against Wigan. 

They want to be in a comfort zone where there's little pressure from the support base or within. They want to be able to continue their little Pep/Jurgen wet dream, that attempts all the style at those clubs but none of the substance.

He says he understands and accepts the expectation at the club. He isn't even close to understanding it. The fact that he believes that results like Stockport 5 Bolton 0 and Bolton 0 Wigan 2 can be forgotten like a parent or teacher forgiving an errant teenager speaks more eloquently than anything. He thinks 32,000 of us going to Wembley for a pathetic no-show can be put down to experience and the slate can be wiped clean. Mr Evatt, it cannot. You delivered this bleakness and you have to pay the price for it. It is unacceptable.

When is the penny going to drop with you that you are are beyond redemption at BWFC and need to move on? When is the board going to realise the same thing? You are not capable of dealing with life at Bolton Wanderers, you are not cut from the right cloth, you don't have the necessary metal for the task. Go.

Probably best for IE not to mention the money spent (relative to other L1 teams), and compared to Neal's budget.  Neal also left us with at  least 8 players that held their own in the 2nd tier, some played in the Prem.  I'd be amazed if more than a couple of the current squad make a decent number of championship appearances, its all very L1.

Neal also left us pretty much in the same place as he found us in terms of league position after circa 6 years. A play-off final loss that left a scar. He couldn’t get us over the line of promotion. I seem to remember after that Southampton defeat in his last season he went and took a break mid-season. He had a mixed record on transfers (Trevor Morgan, Mike Ring, Chic Charnley et al were poor but he brought in Walker, Brown, Ripley on loan). He took us down to the 4th. Just about brought us back up. A FRT loss, a SVT win. All sounds pretty similar to the present day to me tbh. Possibly Neal left us with a few more saleable players.

This could be a difficult one to ride and ignore.

While it was a few folk talking about hearing it, it was relatively low key. This video is sending it into a different dimension, news outlets are picking up on it.

FWIW, in my opinion, I’m not overly fussed or upset about it and it’s a pretty understandable reaction, as I imagine he’s taking dogs abuse.

However, it’s yet again another error on his behalf, it’s another slip on the behaviour/discipline scale at a time when he can ill afford it.

Big decision for Sharon when she’s challenged and questioned on this.

Is this what we’ve become? Getting upset and on our high horse about something as trivial as this? Some of the shit on twitter reminds me of those people desperate to be offended and upset by anything.

The bloke should be gone, long gone, but in the heat of the moment, after all the shit he’s been getting, I can’t honestly say I wouldn’t have done the same.

Well, she’s ignored all his other aberrations.

It doesn’t look great but the fella has been putting up with grief for months. I’m surprised it’s took him so long to snap. 

I’d have been scrapping in the stands about a month ago. 

Not ideal but if people can’t take it, they shouldn’t give it. Always amazed how people think it’s ok to sing for a bloke to be sacked / make accusations about his private life and then get twitchy the second he responds. 
 

For the record, I think it’s time for a change. But this won’t really register for me personally. He clearly still cares.
