Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

“First of all, I do apologise if any offence was taken,” he said. “I was walking back down the tunnel, I didn’t stop to look at any one person or target anybody in particular, I was just so annoyed with what had happened in the first half, the football, and it all came out.

“It was pure frustration at what I’d seen on the pitch. I didn’t mean it to come across as aggressive towards anybody, especially the fans. It was me letting my emotions out and it wasn’t personal at all.”

If there weren’t muppets baying for blood and us underperforming so badly, that would probably be the end of it.

It still might, if we win tonight…. Just to be brought up after every subsequent defeat/underperformance along with the rest of the long list.

Interesting work from Iles. I’m not having he put his tweet out last night, then miraculously ended up with that comment.

He’s had that up his sleeve from the weekend should it blow up like it did last night.

I think there was only ever going to be an admission of guilt and an apology after he was caught and shamed by the social media police.

I suspect Sharon’s work on this matter has been and will continue to be behind the scenes now. Iles has helped her out there.

Or iles couldve gone earlier with the apology, if he had it all day?

Anyway, its bugger all

bit of Mike Bassett's understandable with the pressure and tension around the place

Hopefully we win tonight and he's dancing on the hotel bar in his undercrackers

As we agreed above, as do all managers, even the best ones.

Time will tell whether he veers into Megson territory and goes all anti-fan at the end.

But I’d argue he’s more in this territory than Freedman. In your argument, a much stronger argument than Evatt, Megson didn’t care spunking £11 mill on Elmander and playing reserves at Lisbon.

But neither of them IMO are in the territory of can’t/couldn’t be arsed like Freedman.

He didn’t care spending £300k on nlundulu after a shite loan, he’s spent loads and made us worse and then spent more again this window and the lad can’t even tackle.

he’s had plenty to spend and it’s from a pot which is much smaller. The lads been backed and backed well.

Yeh, unsure what Iles motives are, not sure if his timing is primed for clicks, or whether he’s helping the club out with his balanced view on Evatt and attempting to pour water on when it’s reached its zenith.

Anyway, like you say, I’m with you, the actual act is bugger all.

Non story, he goes because he is inept not because of that

I think somewhere on this we are in agreement! 😂. Some of his  footballing decisions have been very questionable. And I certainly agree he’s been backed well, don’t think I’ve ever disputed that.

The bit I disagree with, is him not being arsed.

Agreed. We both think he is arsed. One of us knows it’s about himself as he is a self centred bellend (from the actions I’ve read and witnessed) one of us hopes it’s the club 😁

So long as he repents we can all move on

I agree, the answers actually in Evatt’s own hands. Just hold hands up admit your new system hasn’t worked as hoped and it needs a change. People would respect that but to keep doubling down is just fuelling the fire.

Doubling down is what gamblers do unfortunately.....

Confess, repent, forgive, redemption

Admit, be embarassed, make the obvious correction, get slapped about a bit for taking so fckg long.

Has he not already started to do that?  He's accused fans of contributing to poor performances on more than one occasion this season.

If we weren't underperforming, the incident wouldn't have happened.

Good point.

Not the first time he's made pointed comments.

If he just came out and apologised for the poor performances, accepted the blame, and then asked for fans' patience and backing, then it would be a better look.

Show some contrition, and stop flinging players under the bus and blaming fans.

In fact it's quite the irony that he has a pop at players, then moans if fans do.

If he is so frustrated that he lets his emotions take over what must his half time team talk be like ?

He has a pretty regular history of losing control, really not the behaviour you look for in a leader.

A classic 'none apology'.

plenty successful football managers had a very short fuse

maybe not as effective now

There are a lot of reasons he won't achieve anything higher than us - coming under the heading Not Good Enough - but his short fuse will be well down the list.

Not sure that many of the best ones have picked fights with the fan base.

Except Clough who give one fan a crack when he ran past during a pitch invasion

True enough. He'd earned his stripes by then I suppose and got away with it.
