Was decent in the 70s but that's the last time i sampled it, was never open as much as baldy afro's Chippy in the next block down which was equally decent.

Used to have a sign in the window saying

"Open Sundays but due to a borough by-law the sale of fish is prohibited"

Weird. Is that still a thing???

It was a thing, but isn't now.

Part of the old antiquated Sunday Trading Laws.

LOL , actually (and to i bet this was late 90s or even early 00s)

We wanted to buy some methylated spirit to clean some varnish brushes from a B&Q on a Sunday , girl on till says " Sorry you can't buy that on a Sunday" err why "in case you drink it" was the answer.

The morrisons next door was selling wine cheaper.

Bald Afro's did a cracking, egg fried rice , meat pie  n curry.

We only went Sundays when Sou's was shut .

What was the chippy opposite The Runworth called ? Big Lanky guy ran it .
