  • Can not speak for @gonzo but coming back yesterday we ended up with one  of our seats double booked with a protester. We chatted most of the way back, I told him I  was not a supporter and he was fine

  • I just wish folk would stop producing bollocks information and spreading it. 3 kids have been murdered ffs and the first thing someone can think of is set up a fake twitter profile and post some

  • Anyone who thinks Starmer covered up for grooming gangs because he in some way thinks it’s ok, is off their fucking box. Hes a dull as shit, methodical legal cunt. Unfortunately, to get justice p

The last thing we need is the Ivory Coast getting involved.

I believe they prefer to be referred to as Côte d'Ivoire these days.

Trouble is, using soldiers could be sleepwalking into a Bloody Sunday situation... we've had summer riots for ever but this time we have social media it's all a bit more organised.

That Tommy Robinson bloke seems to be like a Hamas leader, stirring things up from the safety of a hotel in some hate state... maybe we should recruit Mossad to Drone the c***t

Simply couldn't manage a curfew type situation with the police alone.

As for TR, he'd have no place if there weren't serious, unaddressed issues around immigration. Issues that have been building for years.

The intellectuals like to post comments that it's all a reaction to the incorrect information over the southport killer's identity.

Which is pure, self indulgent ignorance.

This has been on the cards for years, and some of us could see it coming a mile off, but we're labelled as drama queens.

It only needed a spark, and the recent murders provided it.

Cat's out of the bag now, and it's going to be difficult to put it back.

They should make walking the streets in a balaclava illegal.

It'd then justifiably be pointed out that walking the streets in a niqab should receive the same treatment.

Not a fan of any face covers TBF.

I get it and the reasoning behind why lasses want to wear it just don't think its a good idea.

So is that the crux of what these 'protests' are for? Less immigration?

Or is there more?

(not talking about the ones who are just outright racists or knob heads out just to cause trouble)

That's where I am, I dint like any face covering, although you couldn't ban them medical faces mask things folk wear.....so I guess banning face coverings will never happen

Its can't be that simple, because even the most gammony racists know that we actually need a level of immigration, or we will be fucked in a few years.

I guess the main aim is to find what the level is.

Always a cracking idea putting asylum seekers up in nice hotels and accommodation in mainly deprived areas of the UK. You reap what you sow.

I'm guessing not a single person involved in these "protests" has given it more than a second of thought.

You give them too much credit, imo

Not sure how many are nice hotels tbh. I wouldn’t send a dog to stay at the Greyhound Hotel in Leigh (ironically enough given the name and their former neighbours being the Cats & Dogs Home)

It’s basically people with shit lives who have always had shit lives where the financial crash and subsequent cuts in services and stagnant wage growth tipped the balance to make their lives just a bit too shit. Not unlike to be honest the conditions that led to the Nazis.

It’s easier to blame someone else. So the EU. They were to blame. Leave the EU and all would be good. No more Poles or Romanians stealing our jobs. Then that failed so it’s onto blaming immigrants we had to bring in from elsewhere to replace the eastern Europeans. And Muslims (who mostly aren’t immigrants).

The reality is that their shit lives would be made worse (like they have been through Brexit) if we stopped all legal migration tomorrow. But they’ve been fed a bunch of lies and misinformation for long enough that they are certain in their beliefs and their views regardless of evidence or data. We saw with Brexit there is no changing someone regardless of how ill informed they are.

It’s human nature really. Blame someone else rather than yourself. I guess we are all guilty of it.

All of that is not to say there aren’t genuine issues - there are - I’ve talked about stuff on here with the Muslim community and indeed immigration. We all know that things need to be improved and we need to consider how we can be a coherent society. We also need to bring down our reliance on immigration but that will take time. And stop people rocking up here uncontrolled. Again will take time and is more nuanced than is made out.

But this is all being manipulated - by actors who know what they are doing.

When I was a biker, if I went in to a petrol station I was asked to remove my helmet, which I did out of respect for the person behind the counter, so in my book NO face coverings should be allowed in places such as petrol stations etc

Go past that every week taking my lad to the Turnpike for his art group looks rough as fuck. Like you'd get syphilis after spending a night there.

Are there any nice hotels in deprived areas?

I am sorry but it is that type of eliteist thinking that contributes to the mess.

If you were talking solely about the rioters I would be close to agreeing, but there are 4 million who voted reform and 17.4M voted to Leave.

So if we take your theory through over 17m in the country have shit lives. Which is nonsense. Whilst the current levels of anger have been influenced by social media and accounts that someone is funding to spread a message , it does not mean everything they think is fuelled by their 'shit lives'

Thought I'd have a nosey, strangely..

Despite being one of the most developed countries in the world, the United Kingdom struggles with a fairly significant degree of poverty. As of 2022, around 11 million people in the UK were living in relative poverty, with that number increasing to 14.4 million when housing costs are considered.

source: https://www.statista.com/topics/3809/poverty-in-the-uk/

tbh the number appears to be around that, but it's not a real correlation, people wanted to leave Europe for other reasons than just "immigration", just that's the focus..
