I've got tickets to go with a scouse mate to the Marseille V Liverpool match in champs league in December and wondered whether anyone could remember any of the hotels that they stayed at when we paid them a visit last year. I was already living in south of France then so didn't need accomodation then. Anyone remember any cheap and cheerful hotels or even ones to avoid? I am expecting some less than useful replies but any sensible info would be appreciated. Ta, Felgate

Got my picture in the Manchester Evening News when I was 13 after organising a pop quiz at school to raise money for Pendlebury Childrens Hospital - my girlfriends sister had meningitis at the time and was cared for there. Apart from that, not much else, apart from appearing in an episode of House Invaders on BBC1 alongside the lovely Anna Ryder Richardson, whilst she did a reasonable job of a house makeover of a mates place. Didn't receive a single piece of fanmail or any royalties from subsequent showings. Disgraceful!!

Would I be right in thinking that this is the first time that Anelka has signed a contract extension at any club that he's been at? If so, it just emphasises what a coup this is for us - Arsenal, Real Madrid and Liverpool amongst others couldn't get him to do this. How far we have come from the heady days of John Thomas et al!!

I don't think there was any real need for you to jump on your high horse. You're not feckin explaining much anyway really are you. It probably was obvious to everyone, but there was still no need to advertise the fact and basically admit that we'd sell him. I'd have preferred something similar to what Smiley said, or stronger, as in, "he's going nowhere". Managers, and everyone else, do make "statements" - whether these be answers to questions or otherwise.

Fair enough, he is saying that he doesn't want Anelka to leave, but why make this statement in the first place. You're just inviting interest and offers, which is what he or us doesn't want. Anelka has apparently turned Lyon down, but he was always going to. If another big Champs league show interest, I'm not too sure he'll say no again.

Same here (although not with Peter North and Smiley). 2 weeks in September in Toronto, Quebec, Montreal, etc. Had 3 days in lake Como in May. 4 days in Corsica in May - stunning place for anyone who's not been. Skiing in French Alps in December - not really a holiday as it's only 2 hours drive up the road!

I'm presuming you're saying that as, personally, you'd either struggle or be unhappy with paying a ?500 fine. Or maybe you're just happy to have Nicky banned for the start of the season. I don't think Mr Hunt would agree with you or have any such financial worries.

A mate of mine flew down to see me in France last night. Who should he see at Newcastle Airport, none other than Gary Speed. My mates a big Barcodes fan, so he asked him whether he was going back to join Fat Sam at Newcastle, Speed's reply, "I can't tell you". Maybe he was just seeing his pal Shearer... or maybe not??

I agree that we are really missing Davies, but surely when he is out, we can change things slightly to negate his loss. For example, what is the point of continually putting long throws into the box when we're winning none of them!! If it's not working, try something different! It's not all doom and gloom as thankfully all the other teams behind us didn't have great results this weekend, so we're still in control of our own destiny when it comes to Europe next season. Even so, a bit of intelligence/initiative on the field from time to time would be helpful.
