If all he's done is activate a clause in his contract, he'll get paid whether he gets the Derby job or not. That's what clauses are for. If they didn't want this to happen, they shouldn't have accepted the clause.

No, but surely his job is untenable now.

Would assume he / his agent had already spoken to Derby 'off the record' about his package, etc before he then 'officially' asked for permission to speak to them. His risk will be if Derby change their mind, but seems unlikely. I'm sure there's a former Derby player / ex Bolton manager sat at home in Chesterfield hoping this is the case, but I imagine Eustace will be unveiled today / tomorrow. 

As for Blackburn, never quite know what's going on. Szmodics / Brereton money has probably kept them alive last year or two. But don't know if they have any more saleable assets? I miss our regular 3 point haul at Ewood Park - would love to think it won't be long before we do it again

Perhaps its just me but I really wouldn't wish too much harm on this lot. They were quite supportive on the whole when we went through our difficulties.  Certainly I wish we had a youth and scouting system as good as theirs.

Definitely wouldn't want them to go pop altogether, but I wouldn't mind them dropping a league or two.

If Blackburn suffered some sort of collapse, and were docked points is it conceivable that they could end up near enough to the relegation zone that they could be sucked into it?

Me too.  Also probably the biggest away end in the entire 92.  There aren't many bigger than our's, but playing there would be an occasion not just a match.  Virtually our nearest potential away game, and biggest away capacity in the country, would make a change to all those "local derbies" in L1 with the smallest away ends or grounds possible.

Blackburn away has to be our best away.

Proximity, Pubs, Allocated, Generally taking over/taking the piss.

I missed it because I was stuck for hours at Krakow Airport

along with a load of Blackburn fans who had been there for a Euro game on the Thursday night

Why not? Randall has done far more than him, in not much more time, and has been written off by a few! 🙄

It's a funny one this: SS said straight away that he'd need handling with kid gloves, and I was a bit surprised to see him immediately on the bench.

Anyway, injured in the warm up next time, and we don't know for how long. 

Then getting him somewhere near back up to speed. 

Hope I'm wrong, but I can't see him getting a 90+ minute game under his belt.

Maybe the odd sub appearance.

Given the quite obvious chance of play-off qualification, it continues to baffle me.

Not a pop at SS neither, as I get the impression that it was a done deal beforehand.
