The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

This is what I don't get why pot a manager straight after the transfer window or very late in it (like us) surely it would be better before or very early on so they can sign their own players

Is it down to saving money by not signing anybody

Stevie G to make it the perfect tri fecta of wasted golden generation England players to have the club named after them

Also seems odd they waited a week after their last match, so whoever's caretaker manager at Norwich tomorrow has had no time at all with them.

Yes please 🙏

They deserve each other..

I prefer to think of Evatt for the first 4 years and not the last 6 months. Would genuinely gutted if he went there. Although in reality I think his next port of call will be in League One.

Agree, or mid to low championship, while Blackburn have a good chance of the play offs think they will look for experience. But they have wanted him in the past so it wouldn’t surprise me

I'd be very surprised if Evatt got a job in the championship, he might get a job in league 1, if he's lucky.

Blackburn must be a complete mess if manager is swapping play offs for a relegation scrap

He’s after leaving as apparently the club aren’t talking to any of the 6/7 out of contract players about new deals. Must be royally fucked financially and cutting their cloth to suit. He lives that way and used to play for them.

aye, when I saw he was linked presumed it was because Blackburn can't offer the same finanical security as Derby, as it's certainly not based on potential to do well this sesason

had to look him up as a player, his 4 main clubs were Coventry, Stoke, Watford and Derby and he's from midlands, so easier commute no doubt

I know the name, I just don't ever recall us coming up against him or seeing him play

'Financial security' and 'Derby County' are rarely bedfellows.

14 players are out of contract in May/June. The bulk would improve us, whether like that or not.

We won't get him but I'd give Zulu's left bollok to get Dominic Hyam. A truly sound, simply makes no errors, centre-half.

Fair point

Perhaps they've just promised more of it

Activation of a clause: I'm curious to know what that is, as it isn't a step up in terms of league placings.

It says investment has been made in new players; on the face of it, that doesn't look.like a club with financial difficulties, or is it only partially accurate?

Not sure, but the Blackburn fan I work with reckons they're on the verge of going tits up. He did go in to more detail, but I switched off.

Had a look, seems they signed 3 loans, 2 free transfers and an undisclosed fee

We still signed players when deep in the shite (we just didn't pay for them)

They've also shifted Wharton and Szmodics on for good money in last 12 months, probably got over £30m for the pair, which I'm sure helps keep things ticking over

who cares about blackburn?

As suspected then, smoke and mirrors.

All too familiar- huge debt, and seemingly still losing money (unless selling for big dosh).

Win the play offs and see if they've anyone that would benefit us in the fire sale.

Never good when your club statement starts going into their opinions as to why things are all fine - they should be factual. It’s all a bit Ken-like and sounds quite unprofessional, airing dirty laundry in public.

They’ve lived on borrowed time for a long time, only a miraculous promotion to the pot of gold will save them and it sounds like their number of seasons to achieve that before it finally goes tits up is pretty low.

I think one of the reasons he's gone is that they struggled to convince players yo sign for them during the transfer window

So if he doesn't get the Derby job, he's now unemployed.
