England Women’s Football

I know this is the French, but still a good tweet.

Come on England!

Perhaps not as strong as we were for the Euros, but still in with a good shout.

I’ll give it a go. Just hope that they don’t try to equate it to the men’s game. It’s a sport on its own and should be enjoyed as such

“it’S NoT ThE mEn’S gAmE”

took us all of one post for the argument to surface. It’s called the Women’s World Cup for a start.

course it’s the same bloody sport, just a very different standard.

Englands Euro’s run to Wembley & the final win last time round was great entertainment. I’ve seen plenty men’s games that have been much duller. Let’s hope for another good run. Some exciting new players to look out for as well.

Should be another step towards 'wogball' becoming the biggest sport over here, it's being well covered by the media and well supported. It's strange but because I didn't grow up with Women's Football I don't have the ties the same way as I do for Men's Football so I'll be cheering on the Matilda's primarily with a hope England do well, complete opposite of how I feel at the World Cup.

Aussies will never get into a sport that they'll never regularly win at.

I'm not far from Brisbane but couldn't be bothered with England v Haiti. Taken a punt on us winning the group so have tickets for the last 16 game.

I've expressed similar sentiments on here (I think in conversation with @bolty58). The Matilda's have a much better chance than the Socceroos (nicknames used as I know they wind some folk up). Just checked one site and Australia are 6th favourite so not unrealistic that they could have a good run.

Sam Kerr will have a part to play I’m sure. Beat England a couple of months ago too, so they might not be a bad shout.

But could never bring myself to bet on the Aussies winning anything in sport 😊

If they were going to go to all that effort they should've added some fans into the stands as well

Final maybe if I am not doing my hair

Had this discussion with some Plymouth fans at Wembley, in the early rounds of the pizza cup or other crap competitions, instead of putting in the likes of Evertons kids or Villa kids etc, why not put in some of the elite ladies teams like City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

Be more interesting and if it doesn't work nothing really spoiled.

Because theyd get fucking battered

And that said as a fan of englands women

And maybe some bits of goalkeepers actually making saves rather than looking like flids.

Seriously ?

The media push for the women's game has addled people's minds.

The difference between the elite women & the men's game is utterly vast. Not just technique & speed but the sheer physicality. The English women's, European  Champions, team wouldn't survive against a National League (North) outfit.

One thing I’ve noticed whilst having half an eye on the opening game (NZ v Norway) is the lack of males. Women commentators and women pundits for women’s football.

You didn't expect this to be a two-way thing did you ?

Does my head in, all the women commentators, pundits, officals now in the mens game. Stick to your own. Its a different game.

I'll be honest. Out of the big 3 women team sports I enjoy the RU best. But I've got time for all 3.

I won't be making any special effort to watch any game other than Englands. Maybe as the tournament progress's I'll get more dragged in. Anyway, it's still better than Scottish football and Rugby League.

You don't think women should be referees or running the line??

My biggest thing from the women’s game is how they haven’t done work to stop their injuries. The research into knee injuries doesn’t seem to be shared. So many bad ACL’s. More needs to be done to prevent this stuff

Only men can play the men's game. Who choses to work in other areas of the game is open to all. There's an argument to say that you're better qualified as a pundit who has played at elite men's level. But some are still excellent without that added bonus. As for commentating, presenting, refereeing, etc. That's open to all.

Your arguments no different from banning women from attending a game. Dated dinosaur bollocks. I hear the Taliban are taking visa applications 👍

In essence yes, but if it is important to have women commentating on the blokes game, then should blokes be doing likewise on theirs?

Personally, I'll watch for the football, and turn the pundits off afterwards as it all becomes a bit anal.

Yes, of course they should, in the women's game.

Why shouldn't they do it in the men's game?

A good ref and/or a good lino is a good one, regardless of whether it's a man or woman.

That bird lino in the Premier League is as good as any bloke who does it.

What if they are on the rag or too busy knitting/staring at cocks to make a proper decision?
