Still not sure how to really process it tbh.

I haven’t allowed myself get too down about it because it’s early days and we  and gave them some really cheap goals.

It was a bit like the polar opposite of the Sunderland 6-0, that day everything went right, on Saturday everything went wrong.

doubt many of you will watch back the highlights but

goal 1: Dempsey loses his marker and Iredale and Santos inexplicably avoid the ball at the near post

goal 2: Jones gets bullied by Lang for strength (twice!!) the second of which Morley does an accidental through ball to Lang. Not dissimilar to what Bakayoko did for the first goal last time they beat us 4-0

goal 3: just what the fuck is that. Catalogue of errors there. Don’t know where to even begin.

goal 4: Just summed up the day. Keeper saves it only for it to loop slowly into the corner.

Jones had a stinker of a game, honestly never been so pissed off at him. Everything he did was wrong. Bad passes into the strikers particularly who aren’t blameless. But you’d think after the first 2 or 3 times he would’ve learned

Goal 1: Agree. Dempsey should stay goal side of Wykes, but got bullied out of the way. Back 3 all rooted to the spot too though. Can usually forgive conceding from a corner, but that was piss poor.

Goal 2: Jones more interested in shouting for a foul (which it wasn't) than getting on with it - not that it would've made much difference. Good save from Baxter, but parried it straight to Humphries for the follow up. He should have saved that one too really.

Goal 3: Dangers of playing the Offside trap. But by the time Baxter has made the save from the initial shot, we've got 6 players in the box, compared to their 2, and we STILL fail to deal with it. Fucking shocking.

Goal 4: Was easily their best. Slick one/two-touch passing in the build up. We'd be creaming ourselves if we'd scored that.

We just weren't at the races at all. Confident it'll be addressed.

Colin Todd bought Jamie Pollock to get over the 100 point mark. Says it all really. We are soft.

Pollock was one of a nasty bunch we had that year

Parkinson season Vela, pratley & spearing

Look at the teams last season big units and grafters all over the place, this possession football is all good but you need the basics too

My neighbour has known Morley for a long time; since he was a kid. Seen him play many times. She describes him as a lovely lad, and a tremendously talented footballer, but she a knowledge that he's "not a tackler".

His dad was down at westbury other week (Morley played for them) he basically said he’s been told to step it up it will be a big season for him this

That has seriously dented my confidence and I’m a happy clapper. I was convinced we had the players for automatic promotion but I’m not so sure now.

Aye, pre season, I had my doubts about the loss of Trafford & Bradley & the failure to recruit a goalscoring, midfield bruiser with silky skills but early results & performances convinced me that we were on for automatic promotion.........but Saturday has brought the doubts back & as much as we need to bounce back, Burton away is always problem for us.

Aye, that's where my neighbour knows him from.

It seemed a touch odd to rest him for the Fleetwood game (the most difficult and physical of the season at that time) then bring him back for what would probably be an even more difficult encounter

Did dropping him have the opposite effect do you think?

Whatever the case, if that's what the view is from the management, then a decision will need to be made soon as it can't be allowed to drift if we have clear aspirations for promotion.

He dropped out similar time last season but IE was making many changes per game then, came back and kicked on for the majority of the second half of the season

We do. They just either didn't start on Saturday or played like rabbits in the headlights. No other team in this League will be as pumped up to play us as Wigan were on Saturday. Serious fucking let down which needs addressing, but let's not write them off 4 games into the season when we're still joint top of the league.

No, but now every manager in the league will be telling their players Bolton don’t like rough-house, in your face tactics so get out there and bully the fuck out of them.

Pies can gloat all they want, were 2nd equal points with top, their 19th. Shocking performance on the day. Its gone on to Burton for 3 pionts.

I’m not sure including an eight point deduction is right in this instance. Looking at the form guide they’re WWDW for their four league games whilst we’re WWWL.

It’s a bit like they’ve given us an eight point start in the race to the top of the table by the end of the season. No point looking whose gonna be promoted using today’s table.

Presumably either Morley is deaf and didn’t hear or he was told he needs to step his game up after Saturday’s game

Morley isn't totally to blame here. It was evident in the first 20 mins that it was going to be the same performance/result as last time. When the tackles start flying in where is our captain and senior players remonstrating to the ref, or even having a go at the player involved. It is just accepted. The new players on the bench gave us further options and they were used far too late too. I think Jones has been below par for a while now and there are some better/faster options.

I’m not sure we need him to be faster. More accurate with his passing would be a good start though.

And you don't think Evatt will tell our players to change their game accordingly? Are we suddenly cured solid, while every other team in the League is malleable?

Evert knew the result a couple of seasons ago. Motivating his players for a game against a local rival didn’t seem to be his strong point on Saturday, do you think he’ll motivate against others?

Yes. Do you think he'll just ignore Saturday? It was different gravy to 2 years ago. The scoreline might have been the same, but the capitulation was 10 times worse.

This is where I can't get my head round Evatt, a robust centre back who put himself about but now seemingly a football snob who's as likely have sent them out with the message to 'trust their processes, stay calm, wear them out by keeping the ball off them'.

You'd have thought his script might also have included 'but expect them to rattle into you early doors, you'll need to stand up to it and give a bit back if need be'.

Does anyone think we might need a midfield bastard ?

No because he’ll spend more time suspended than on the pitch. What we need is players, all of them, to show the same attitude as Demps. Let’s face it, it was just a really bad day at the office where multiple players went missing at the same time but I’ve watched it back now and though we were bad there were trigger points all through which could have changed things starting with that tackle by Humphrey’s early on which there is no question should have been a booking and it wasn’t the only one. Had the ref stamped down it may well have changed things and I think I have to agree with Evatt that the ball did fall for them for goals 2 and 3 despite our abysmal defending whilst it never seemed to do for us. Had Cogley buried his chance early in the second half again it could have immediately changed the situation. These things happen in games and the worst thing that can happen now is for the squad to dwell on the result. It’s one game, it’s gone so make sure you don’t fret but use the experience to ensure it doesn’t happen again starting at Burton on Saturday.
