Iredale was the least of our worries today

Oh, I don't know

No one came out with credit but I thought Iredale really struggled

To be fair though, he probably won't come up against many better than Humphreys this season

Strange thing is that Evatt's comments in the BN this week suggested that he appreciated that we had to battle first.

Bizarre.

Given the staring line-up he went with, I think he expected them to try and match us stylistically but instead they tried to pressure and shut us down and we were all at sea

It's concenred Evatt said in his post-match comments he didn't see the result coming

Aye maybe. I was more concerned with our midfield three shitting out and going missing for 45 mins.

The fact we had three in there and they had two yet we still lost the midfield battle isn't great, is it?

Iredale (and Williams) had been real bright spots prior to today but both were dreadful. Not that anyone else was any better.

Iredale has been well worth his shirt up to today, but was as poor as anybody today.

For a normally steady reliable player Gethin Jones today was abysmal.

A likeable sort and steady usually but badly exposed as not a genuine back 3 player. Got bullied and pulled all over, passing was dire, gave it away about 10 times then stood waving his arms at everybody else

He was, as with Jones, badly exposed as not a genuine member of a back 3 by how they put a physical sort like Humphrys on him

Once Toal fit think Gethin will be either on the bench or RWB

Exactly add iredale to it and santos being out muscled most of the challenges  and Williams might of been sat in east stand lower and that sums our defence today

That chant will resonate in my nervous system for a very long time.

Great chant, awfully well played.

As I've not renewed today's early kick off was one I was always missing. I hate early kick offs. It's one of the joys of lower league footy is we don't get many of them.

I got FOMO seeing people walking to the match in the morning and was still tempted to buy online and go 20 mins to kick off.

Glad I didn't given the result but even more so now you've said they were singing this!

Ifollow wanker on dodgy and £42 in my back burner... Successful Saturday

I'm not sure anyone saw that coming, although I honestly didn't fancy us when I saw the line up.

Speechless after that. Typical Bolton really. I should know better after the best part of 50 years. We get a decent crowd, and team is apparently full of confidence, then we get that.

Think we need send Ndulu to the B team, he ain’t a first team player, get him playing a season with the stiffs and if he don’t improve cut our losses.

Aye.

Maloney just on radio 5. Kinell, gloating on national radio!

Turned it off.

He is a fucking scrote. He fits in really well at Wigan. They have no class but of course the cunt is gonna gloat . This game means so much more to them fuckers than it does to us. That is why they come out on top time and time again.

Fucking disgraceful that today

The concern is we should have expected them to have had a bollocking at the interval. If they did it didn’t have the desired effects, poor all over the pitch. Santos and Jones ( captain and vice captain) our so called leaders, weak as piss.

I’ve only got to page 16 so this might have been picked up and covered but this was one of the biggest points for me today.

Don’t get me wrong, none of them looked good but we know that they can all be very good on their day (other than Dan who I fail to see what Evatt’s seen to buy him!), and they have been so far this season, but today showed just how fucking soft our underbelly still is and that starts with our captain and vice captain.

Santos is unbelievable at this level and I think he can go further and hope to god he doesn’t get snapped up before the end of the window - I don’t think he’s a leader though. He shrunk today, from the off when they flew into us he didn’t want to know. Every so often when he gets rattled, like today, his body language is horrendous, shoulders down, looking at the floor, hands out moaning at people, ambling around, passing with no intensity. It’s all well and good strutting around in games like Fleetwood or Lincoln, when things are going well, but a leader and captain would grab that team by the balls and inject some energy and fight into them - instead he hid like the rest of them and let Wyke get in his head.

Jones is in the same bracket - he also had the worst game I’ve seen him had in a long time but he’s also too nice. We must have the softest Captain and vice captain combination in the league and it transmits through the team.

They made sure in the first 15 mins that they sprinted into the press, left something in every tackle, gave shit to the crowd, smashed a few of our players and we didn’t do a fucking thing about it. We’re too nice, there’s only Dempsey that has any kind of nastiness in him.

The good news is that there will be very few games like this again this season as it’s a league full of smaller teams this year - but it just shows that we still have that same underlying issue of being soft in big moments.

It’s only 3 points, we’re still joint top, we know that the squad is miles better than what we showed today, and I don’t know any Wigan fans so if I stay away from twitter then it’s just like any other loss - still fucking wank though.

He was poor, as was Vic today but everything we provided to them seemed to be behind them or needing a turn in the box filled with 74 Wigan players at any given time.

It was just shit all round. I don't think we have either forward a decent opportunity they should have buried at any point.

Iredale was bossed by the chap who scored twice today. Also poor in the tackle and some bad distribution. Stood out as the worst of a bad bunch.

Dan plays with his back to goal and if he’s going to do that, his first touch needs to be better. Unfortunately it’s not and he ends up playing backwards and losing ground / momentum every time it comes to him. The odd occasion he controls it well and tries to turn/shoot, there’s a man there blocking him, so it comes to nothing. Biggest contribution he made is to show how important Charles is to us.

A Wigan supporter I know just put this on Facebook:

”The debate is over”

Having to see shit like that makes my piss boil.

I’m fucking fuming with our players today.

We cannot keep pointing at history and FA Cups we won on black and white telly. We need to fucking beat these cunts and beat them by 5 goals at their place.

My lad is shellshocked.

We play 3 at the back,  but have 1 centre back in Santos.    Iredale can not play this position and needs replacing with toal asap,    Jones also needs replacing with a defender as he can not defend.   It's the basics ffs.

We beat Fleetwood 3-1 but the warnings were there,  they could have score 3 or 4.

Fed up of saying Morley is a waste of a spot in the xi.   And as pointless as that 2nd half was maghoma and Mendes gomes showed why they should be starting.

Baxter had a shocker.   2 goals at fault.

Look, next game is burton and they have 1 point and we should be smashing them,  if we dont win then there are problems, no excuses for not winning.
