Funny how we have got rid of the shit vic and the weak/shit randell and started losing

Anyway, i wouldnt have swapped what was working but hey ho, he will sort it

Its harsh to say "we've started losing".  We've lost a couple, it happens.  It happened earlier in the season, and last season. It doesn't mean we'll lose next week or the week after.

I get people are justifying the Dion sub, but why not bring another midfield player and go 4 4 1 ?

Say bring CMG on, he goes on one side Paris the other and Legohead and Morley central ?

5 at the back, Defensive midfield and a keeper that leaves 3 others.

Im not in the maghoma fan club, he’s ok…. Nothing more.

He's better than OK at this level, really tried to make things happen when others were being more conservative, doesn't always come off (dribbling into trouble) but we won't be signing any better midfielders in this league.

Yes, poor, but still don't get why giving someone 4 or 5 out of 10 equals "scapegoat".  Nobody can just pass comment on a player any more unless its unreservedly positive.  Its a bit odd.

We can agree to disagree. He’s a million miles off being a rounded midfielder, he can dribble, can’t tackle, can’t shoot, not great passer.

Actually you’re right he’s not a scapegoat… but his performances leave a lot to be desired… probably gets off lightly.

Some weapon on the ESU concourse was telling all and sundry that Baxter was to blame for Santos's sending off.....

Surely if Baxter was in his goal it wasn't 100% necessary to bring him down, ie it wasn't just a shot into an empty net, he would have to be the keeper.  The keeper was nowhere to be seen, so Santos had no option.  Everyone sat around us whether I knew them or not, said Santos was bound to bring him down to avoid the goal, if Baxter was there its a different conversation, not necessarily a goal.  IE must tell Baxter to do that as he still did it 2nd half, so its an IE tactic rightly or wrongly.

I know IE loves playing wing backs, but 5-3-1 just felt so negative at 0-1, never mind once it went to two.

Presumably Iredale was brought in to shore things up on the left hand side and give a bit more support to Toal than he had from Williams on Monday, but that was another plan that was out of the window after 10 minutes.

It really seemed like there was a widespread poor attitude from minute one. You’ve always got to be able to account for one or two having an off day, but it felt like they’d been on the piss all week and were just going through the motions.

All of a sudden, that cushion has gone and we’re pretty much back in to “must win” territory and probably need be looking at 10 points from the next 12 before the Luton game to keep pace with the rest.

More than happy to disagree and respect different opinions.  I feel like he offers something different, and looks for subtle/unexpected passes rather than the more telegraphed stuff of Morley, Sheehan (no criticism of their different styles of play).  Also the only player in midfield that will take a man on, drive forward and beat a man.  But has his faults, can be too casual, can try things that won't come off.  Not being able to shoot or tackle seems irrelevant in an IE team, name one that can 😀

If you’re a midfielder you have to be decent in all areas of your game, he’s bang average at passing, worse at shooting and woeful at tackling. That makes him bang average, what I’ve seen of him he’s not for me.

I can't fathom the comments on here saying taking Charles off at 1 nil down made sense because "everyone takes a striker off". Most teams don't play 5 at the back.... Show some flexibility and go to a back 4 ffs.

And on top of that, if you're going to keep someone on when a man short, it's Charles - high fitness, pace and energy and always pressing. Put him on the wing in a 441 if you have to. The one thing you definitely don't do is sub him off for an additional defender. Abysmal decision.

And one thing I will add is this has all come after the "we're not getting enough praise" comments. Sounded too smug for my liking then and looks stupid now.

Which one of our midfielders are you talking about?

Narrow it down a bit but please don’t say it’s young George.

That bright spell in the 2nd half with 6 million balls flashing across the box here there and everywhere...

Charles is still on we score.

With 10 men you need energy, tracking back, tackling and chasing every ball and lost cause. You know like making up for being a man down.

Charles looked pissed off v Pompey at the lack of service on Monday. He will be even more pissed off now.

...if those Preston and Boro rumours are true I wouldnt be surprised if his agent isnt on the case already.

If we'd gone 4-4-1 and played Charles on the wing(!), we'd probably have got pumped 4 or 5-0, and you'd be slating Evatt for shoving round pegs in square holes, and forcing the players into an unfamiliar system. As it was, we dominated the second half and came very close to equalising from 2-0 down.

Or he puts it wide of an open goal from 6 yards out.

He would have been much happier if the team had presented him with an open goal, 2 yards out I guess.

Another one

Youve got the changes you wanted and its def not got better

Not your fault, obvs, its on IE

It’s hardly a fair comparison though is it.. Bods first game against the toughest opposition in the league and his second game we go down to 10 men?

He’s an Icelandic international and had more championship appearances than Vic will ever have.

We don’t lose Santos today and it’s a different story.

Other qualities needed too - pace, strength, heading, 2 footed, leadership, driving forward with the ball, being able to beat a man in a tight situation.  He's not being judged against all those, just in comparison to our other midfielders, its hard to see any L1 midfielders excelling in most of those.  None of our midfielders are championship standard IMO, but can all do a job in L1 and bring something different, Maghoma has a role to play for me.

I don’t doubt he has just pointing out he ain’t all that, that some folk seem to think he is.

We were top with Vic in the team. All about what works best for Charles and pressing.

Sometimes its the stuff you dont see.

Seems odd to have a poor run of games and then say he should be playing at a higher level!  Can score goals in L1 of course, a bit too weak and poor in possession to go higher.
