People chucking stuff at a manager who has just qualified top of the group need their passports taking off them. Utter knobs.

But booing the side off and chucking bloody cups isn't going to improve those odds. I'm surprised Southgate kept the job on after the abuse he got post Italy - but I'll never understand the way some football supporters minds work.

Perhaps if you had spent thousands of pounds to watch 3 consecutive games of utter dross then you may understand their frustration.

😉

See, I'm like that with hats, I've tried & better tried with various ones but no, just can't.

Me too - long face, large ears - I look stupid in any hat.

Well, chucking stuff (that's got no chance of reaching. Ever thrown an emply plastic beer 'glass' ?) isn’t great.

Giving the manager dogs abuse for poor squad selection, poor team selection, poor tactics and whinging when criticised is fair game in my view. 3 games, 40m max decent play.

These complaining have spent serious £thousands on flights, trains, tickets, accommodation to see lacklustre performances and players/manager earning £millions get emotional for not being hugged.

F'kem.

I'd remind those people that we've just finished top of the group and that tournament football is often frustrating.

Had we lost or been knocked out then I'd agree with you.

But this is mid way through a tournament that we have every chance of winning. There aren't any stand out teams in there - but I'd argue we're the side with the most potential to improve.

Players minds are now on a row with the supporters as well as who they will be playing in the next round. I don't think that's a good place to be mentally.

Cool heads. Play the long game and save the vitriol for if we get knocked out with no improvement.

Performances have been disappointing so far - and I don't think anybody in world football would disagree. Some pissed blokes shouting from the stands isn't going to suddenly turn the tide around.

And if I had spent thousands of pounds - I'd have spent it knowing that there is a potential for things to go badly as much as there is for things to go swimmingly. It's not like this is new information for England fans 😁

On a positive note. Scotland are putting their bins out.

COY3L!

Oh, I do wish they would.

That’s a fantastic way of saying we’ve been complete shite 😂 - you should be a politician.

Not disagreeing with what you’re saying by the way, it’s a fair and rationale way to assess the outcome of those 3 games, that sentence just made me chuckle.

You're correct in that we've gone through top, but some semblance of entertainment isn't too much to ask.

To turn it around; if fans have to accept that's the chance they take when they spend thousands, then they'd be better off staying at home and not going out. The squad etc wouldn't like that.

In the 3 games, performances have got worse, not better, which doesn't give much hope for ultimate success.

We may well progress at the weekend, but we will have to improve beyond that.

Even the body language is one of frustration with each other and that's a poor look, which opponents will pick up on.

Only thing I took from last night is Mainoo should start the next game

Bellingham has had half a good season in an ok league.

Agree with a lot you say but not this. He didn't just have a good season in a league far stronger than you give it credit for but was a star performer in arguably the most difficult and prestigious club competition on the planet.

He just looks fucked and needs resting.

That's fair enough. I probably am being too critical of him. I just think that perhaps the hype is a bit much given how he's actually been playing since Christmas.

The subs have given me some hope.

Palmer, Mainoo and Gordon contributed more in their minutes than most of the starting 11 have all tournament.

Palmer and Mainoo have to start next game as a minimum.

Kane and Bellingham have been uninspiring and if it weren’t for their names they’d be an easy drop.

Its just not working for Bellingham in this team at all.

I would drop him, maybe use him as an impact later in the game against tired legs.

He is a brilliant player, really brilliant, but for some reason its not clicked for him here yet. Tired, poor system, poor set up...could be a bit of all of them.

Kane looks fucked. And let's face it, the guy is destined to never win a trophy.

I'd like to see more of Watkins/Bowen upfront and more from the likes of Eze, Gordon, Palmer etc.

The issue with only bringing Palmer in for Saka, is we would then be playing 3 natural number 10's, and would have zero width....ALSO with Kane who likes to drop deep. Balance would be way off.

I would be starting Palmer, Mainoo and Gordon, drop Saka AND Bellingham. Lets balance that front 4 up by adding width AND letting players play on natural positions.

Sorry I went sleep I could only handle 5 minutes of the phone in after 😂

He just talked about how they're working under an odd atmosphere, and about the reception they got at the end. Reporter asked if it hurt hearing boos etc and he kind of stumbled on his words a bit which I'm not used to hearing from him then just said I want the fans to support the players it doesn't matter about me.

This "working under an odd atmosphere" thing that he's mentioned a couple of times now needs looking into. Wonder what he means, surely not just some criticism from pundits etc?

This whole tournament has a weird feeling about ,seems like everyone has been on the teams back from the off. Everyone seems to hate Southgate and his style of play all of a sudden. The media have played a big part in this especially Lineker and Shearer and it is bound to have an affect on the squad and the manager .

Granted we haven't played exhibition football in the games we have played but we qualified at a canter. What will happen if we go out and win the next game 4nil will the idiots who are slagging the team off on every corner of social media suddenly start painting mini roundabouts and videoing themselves singing it's coming home. The football is poor but if we play shit and win every game 1nil we lift the trophy. History won't give a fuck what Shearer had to say

This is very fair. There will always be people who are literally never happy whatever happens. I genuinely wouldn't have minded the last 2 draws if the performances in the matches had been better. I know that we've qualified, but I would have liked to have some sign in those matches that we might have a chance of breaking down better teams when we come up against them in the knockouts. How many real chances have we created in the 3 matches?

Two somewhat extreme sides of the argument there.

I don't think we qualified at a canter, and we've been horrible to watch. If we win 4-0 next game then great- we will have played a lot better in achieving that.

And if we win each game 1-0 then of course folk will be happy: once again though we will have had to have played top teams which would have necessitated better performance levels.

We've barely had any shots on target in the games, and we can't expect better teams to be any more welcoming, so that has to be improved.

I've defended Southgate- his record stands up- but for me the football is worse now than it was in Russia, despite supposedly having better players.

They look shorn of confidence of themselves and in each other. Frightened of expressing themselves and far too negative.

Body language off too.

At least some of that has to come from the management team.
