He’s been a massive success for us overall He’s been nearly as successful as Phil Neal. Scraped promotion out of the fourth tier, took us to two playoffs, one a final loss and one a semi, and won a Football League trophy, before tailing off in his 4th attempt to get us out of the third tier. An identical record but he had had much greater backing and resources than Neal, in better times, and considerably better facilities (stadium and training ground) than 35 years ago. if massive success is “not as good as Phil Neal” then your bar is lower than a limbo dancer’s! Matt Lofthouse Posted September 14 Posted September 14 That Oxford game has utterly twatted evatt and the squad to the core. Quote

You just chose to decide it was. Like I said, a shit joke. We're all big enough and old enough now to not need to regress shite like that to jokes about someone's ethnicity or nationality. Unnecessary, discriminatory and should be called out. Not excused as 'light hearted'. Quote

Without Santos we'd have been 4 down at H-T never mind F-T. I remember saying those not at the game will just see the goal and blame Santos, and ignore everything else he did. Defending, intercepting, passing, composure especially in 1st half was outstanding, but he'll just get pelters again because we lost heavily. On a similar note Matete was superb, but his record is started one game, lost 0-4. They are surrounded by mediocrity and poor tactics. Quote
TroySwoosh Posted September 14 Posted September 14 where did he blame the fans? Must've missed that bit or is everyone over-reacting to a different comment? Negativity inside and outside the club? Hardly said it's the fans fault Quote

In hindsight, he probably should have gone after Oxford but he had enough credit in the bank for another crack at it. It's clear it's time to fall on his sword as the changes he's tried to implement just aren't working. Thank you, but it's time to go. Thanks for the memories but it's time for this generation's Bruce Rioch. Quote

I was there with my brother and 14 year old nephew who've travelled from Lincoln. Their last game was Wembley and one of their 4 home games last season was Wigan. Being worse than Lincoln when he goes to school next week is something he thought he'd left behind about 3 years ago. Quote

I agree with the overall sentiment, but I’m not sure “in better times” is a fair comment when you consider he had to build a team literally from scratch. Quote
Popular Post frank_spencer Posted September 14 Popular Post Posted September 14 People saying it's only 5 games are missing that the shit performances have been since January. Had more than enough opportunity to go up automatically but fucked those up, scraped through to Wembley almost fucking up against Barnsley then the royal fuck up at Wembley. Quote

I’m not sure if you were around in the mid to late 80s, but things were definitely worse for Neal than Evatt. Parkinson and Hill had the rough recent times, as managers. Sharon and Michael had their feet under the desk, by the time Evatt was appointed. Yes, he had to build a team, but with a stadium and facilities to sell to players, and with finances stablising. The start of Neal’s reign was akin to Parkinson’s reign, where we nearly went bust, had to pawn the assets and had no money for the squad. Edited September 14 by Rival Son Quote

Ani Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Just got back, even had not been to the game listening to his interview it is time for his own mental health to move things on. he did not blame fans, saying he did so is just kicking a man when he is down. He said there is a dark cloud this is affecting everyone and does not know how to lift it. Will be amazed if he does not go today Quote
mickbrown Posted September 14 Posted September 14 3 minutes ago, tomski said: 13 in 41 That’s the crux of it. The position we were in, we should have pissed the automatic promotion. The ending to the season was shite and we’ve started this one even worse. The decline is evident and I don’t think he’s the man to pull us out of the tailspin. Quote

He just looks a beaten man for the first time in his 4 years. TBF he was coming across as a beaten man back in march Blokes fragile So is the team They haven't recovered from Wembley And I don't think he can turn it round now Quote
