What a fuck up that would be on our part. Do you not reckon we tried to get him again in the Summer? I've no idea either way, but I'd be surprised if we didn't make enquiries. Quote

Eddie Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 (edited) My instinct says there’s a really good player in Morley, possibly one that would be comfortable at Championship level. He’s had a couple of tough seasons with us but he’s only 24, 1 year older than GT who many still see as a youngster who has loads of time to keep improving. It might not be with us, we (Evatt) might not be the right fit, but if I had to guess I’d say that he’ll either be top end of this league or Champ by the age of 28 when he peaks. Anyway, as long as he’s doing well at Wycombe his value is going up and we’ve got him under contract until 2027 - win win. Edited November 8, 2024 by Eddie Quote

Potential drawback is if he becomes a disruptive influence in the squad. If he's back here against his will I bet he'd refuse to join in singing "we are the only one and only wanderers". Could be awkward. Or if we're beating Wycombe 2-0 and he comes on for the last 10 minutes to give Sheehan's legs a rest, and he bags a hat-trick in the wrong net, it would be a bit suspicious. Quote

It would be a bit of a climbdown on his part to return to L1 after he left us with the type of goodbye you get from players destined for greater things. Having watched a few terrible Championship games this season he's more than capable of playing at that level. But if he ended up at another L1 team, maybe other than Birmingham who are certain to go up, it would be a kick in the teeth for us. Quote
mickbrown Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Morley regressed as much as George progressed If he’d have improved as much as George did, we’d have a hell of a player. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Have watched this debate play out from the sidelines for a while, largely as I've a view on it that might be a bit 'out there'. For what it's worth, having persuaded the Board that Morley was such an asset to be given a 4 year contract, it's up to Evatt to be getting the best out of him. Yes, of course the lad has to want to do what's being put to him as conditions of being a standing dish in the side, and I get there are those 'ITK' who reckon he's less than compliant, but if Evatt already had any sense of him not being likely to progress under his tutelage, why push for the length of contract? I'm pretty sure there's at least a regular member of our side in that lad, if not more, the sort who might live up to Evatt's 'Championship ready' mantle. Evatt watched him the other night apparently and saw him back at his best of the year before last. If he comes back in Jan he could be a real asset for the later stages of the season, certainly more of one than someone like Arfield Quote

Wanderlust Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Match day is upon us and in my mind, this is a “must win” game - not so much in terms of our end of season objective, but as a much-needed psychological boost for both fans and players. This is about regaining a position in the play off slots, revenge for last season’s humiliation, bragging rights, momentum, progress and pride. Quote

We need a win to finally get over the big game bottling we've done consistently under Evatt. And then we need to back it up with wins against Blackpool and Wigan. Lose these games and it's just same old weak mentality. Win them and Evatt will convince people like me that he can take us forward. On the game itself I really hope we play a midfield 3. The 523 got massively exposed last weekend against a team in the division below us and I can see Stockport playing a similar fast paced game. Quote
DaveTheRave Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 3-2 Charles, Schon, McAtee. Come On You Whites!!! Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 We don't have a midfield three to play Unchanged outfield team from the last league match for me, leaving Evatt to make the call on goalkeeper Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I forgot about Lolos But I still think I'd go with the same line-up Quote
masi 51 Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Team selection will be critical today.....Keepers...Baxter the better keeper but plays some woeful balls out to Santos and Sheehan that cost us goals unless Evatt has directed otherwise, we will see Baxters first game back. RCB have a feeling he will throw Jones in here instead of Forrester. Along with the armband. Midfield please not Arfield, but again i do not want to see a 5/2/3 He could put Williams at LWB and have Schon in a midfield three but he wont it will be a three up front of McAtee, Collins and Vic with Charles coming on around the 65 min mark.........Evatt biggest change is that he has moved the subs 5mins later this season. Hope more than expectation on getting a result because man to man we are levels better than these Going 2-2 and the happy clappers saying it is a good result despite Stockport letting in 6 to Blackburn, 5 to Wycombe and 4 to Orient at home this season Quote
Duck Egg Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 No idea which formation he'll plump for but McAtee has to start for me. Hope all those Wanderers lucky enough to have a ticket have a great day. Quote

I guess it's a straight toss up between Lolos or McAtee behind the front 2 as per the Burton game or those similar players out wide in a front 3 as per last 2 league games. Probably makes little difference. Quote

Eddie Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Others have said it, but there’s so much more on this game than just 3 points. Full house at a local rival who will be well up for it, despite being in terrible form. I just want us to play the occasion and have that intensity that we’ve seen over the past few games. Do that and I reckon we could win comfortably - and if we do that then I might start to forget that Play off final ever happened and properly buy in on the promotion chances this season. 3-1 McAtee x2 and Charles Quote
