Burndens Bogs Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Can’t see Morley being happy to come back here just to warm the bench. There’s no way he’d be a regular starter. Quote

barrycowdrill Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Worth remembering when he did go out on loan we seemed to be set on a 2 man midfield and he was 5th in the queue so it made sense for him to go out and play every week. don’t think anyone would’ve anticipated us ripping that up and going back to a 3 as soon as we did and if we hadn’t of trialled the 2 midfielders at all I don’t think he would’ve actually gone out. when you then also factor in the injuries we’ve had, he might’ve had a decent run in the side Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Putting the question of whether he would want to return, and his desire to perform to one side, I'd happily interchange him with Sheehan, especially against teams that muscle the welshman out of games. Quote
L/H White Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 it seems morley has morphed into peak pirlo while he's be gone he was absolutely terrible last season whenever given the chance he's no place in this squad whatsoever Quote
tomski Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 So many variations on this to land blame at anyones door. One thing I think is universal though is that what was IE thinking on seeing Arfield as an upgrade. Quote

Morley wanted first team football and asked to leave on loan to get it. Matete was bought in and that made Morleys chances even less. I was chuffed with Arfields signing. Midfield bite we've been lacking. Straight out of the Karl Henry handbook. Fair to say it's not worked and that's putting it extremely kindly. Quote

Only think Arfield has in common with Henry is that they're both old. Quote
boltonboris Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 We'd have to pay a penalty to Wycombe to terminate his loan early, which would be a percentage of any loan fee earned, plus a bit of compo. These things are fairly standard. We'd also have to pay his wages, which isn't an issue as he's in the budget. As said above though, it's one thing bringing him in to weaken Wycombe, but we'd run the risk of pissing him off. If we are looking to flog him in Jan then do it, otherwise I would leave him be. He looks like he's developing down there which is of benefit to us Quote

We've seen them both suffer in the defensive aspects of their game. Difference is that Morley was told to improve that part of his game which arguably spoiled him. Doing well now, in a fresh environment where maybe they use his strengths. Hardly the performance of a bloke who can't manage 20 minutes. He was cack last season, and it was right to loan him out, but it is clear there is still a player in there. Quote

He might come back in next season thinking that he's going to make a proper go of it with us and be fired up to be a regular in the XI - Especially seeing as Sheehan is most likely off. Unfortunately can't see Sheehan signing a deal (hope I'm wrong) Quote

Suppose it will depend if someone offers him more- maybe a bottom half championship club at best. I have a feeling he'll want to stay, though maybe he's hedging his bets over us getting promoted. In which case fuck him off anyway. Quote

However, the likes of Cardiff, Swansea, Brizzle Ciddy could double his wages and he'd be nearer home. This is probably why he's not signed whatever's been put in front of him. His wife is from down there too and they've a young family. With only 1 more decent move available before he starts dropping off, he's going to look to cash in Quote
deeane Koontz Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Wycombe are top of the league. And he's playing well apparently No fucking way we should be helping another team getting promoted if the lay of the land is similar come January. Get the fucker back and on the bench. Quote

noxid Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 If Wycombe are still in the top six in January then we have to either bring him back or sell him to someone else. We can't be assisting a promotional rival just so he gets game time. Quote
tomski Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Wycombe manager being looked at by Coventry apparently Quote

DazBob Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Imagine if we recalled Morley in Jan and Wycombe then went out and brought in Maghoma on loan to replace him. What a fuck up that would be on our part. Quote
