A dreary 2-0 win where we make plenty of final third entries, lots of successful passes but only turn it into a moderate amount of scoreboard pressure. The Cambridge Ultras are apoplectic at their side's meek surrender to the flat track bullies.

Maybe not this particular game, but deffo for hudds, we need him to beat the press. He seems to be the only midfielder who can consistently take it in tight windows and not lose it. 

Without him it's slow passing between the keeper and back three, then hoof it to two guys that can't play hoofball.

Most recent games , even last Saturday, we have started well but haven't scored & then it starts going downhill.

Bolton host Cambridge United this afternoon looking to build on a midweek win at Lincoln City in the Vertu Trophy – and Evatt is convinced it can be achieved by ‘doubling down’ on the possession game he has used exclusively in his four-and-a-half years with the club.

Fans have voiced their frustration with the manager’s tactics, most recently in defeat at Rotherham United last weekend, which left the Whites 10th in the table and four points outside the play-offs.

But Evatt has spent this week reinforcing a message to his players that fortunes will change if they stick to the gameplan.

“We didn’t have questions when we were second in the league, or in the play-off final, the play-offs before that or when we got promotion two years before that – we didn’t have those issues,” he told The Bolton News.

“The style of play isn’t changing, it isn’t going to change, because I fully believe in it.

“Sometimes they players do need reminders. I’m a man with strong faith and belief, I’m a churchgoer, and people always tell you that when you are doubting things and having tough times that they are the moments when you need to increase that faith.

These aren't going to be anything like as tricky a proposition as the likes of Mansfield or Lincoln (till they went down to 10). I see us winning today without pulling any trees up but it being a bit more pressurised on Tuesday. Charlton are half decent, caused us issues last season, beaten us already this.

I'll be behind the team today and hoping for 3 points, not interested in protests etc, but do you seriously think we are in contention with IE in charge?  Surely that's the whole point of why most fans want a change, we want to be in contention with a competent manager, if we make a change we have an outside chance.

We don't want to be pushovers every time we play a top half team which is what we are with IE.  Surely nobody could argue with that?
