He gets the benefit of the doubt from me that he's just been unlucky, can return to full fitness long term, and is not actually a crock. That's what 'benefit of the doubt' means. ok, but be aware that you are giving him the benefit of the doubt based on a match performance from 2.5 years ago Quote

Supporting a football team is not a rational persuit. Players become legends for tiny moments that become embedded in supporters minds. If everyone started thinking about football logically, nobody would bother watching. Quote

There is no doubt that Dempsey has had injury problems over the last 12 months, but whenever he’s turned out in white, both before the injury problems and in the small number appearances last season, there’s no doubt he gives us something completely different as an attacking midfielder (dare I say number eight) to anyone else in our squad, over the last three seasons. Moreover, he always leaves everything on the pitch. Quote

He sounded confident that he’s now fit. Quote

I hope he is I think he could do better as the #10 than we've seen from McAtee and Randall I'm not pinning any hopes on him though, because of the last 2 years of injuries Quote
Kane57 Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 Heard a few people talking about Dempsey playing as a no10. What's this based on? For me he was always best at playing deeper and then running on to the ball, rather than holding it up or being a playmaker. He definitely doesn't have the flair aspect that role demands Quote

Done it for us a few times. And from the horses mouth: ‘He has also played in a couple of different midfield positions for the Whites, from a deeper-lying number eight to a number 10 behind the front two. “I like to receive the ball around the halfway line and drive with the ball and bring everyone else into play,” he explained. “I enjoy playing 10, especially in the way this team plays.’ Although he’s probably played more games as an 8.
