As for players not required but still in contract, they need to look at the Coleman example. He was told he wouldn't play, he didn't, presumably on a basic wage and now released.

It is interesting to see what will happen to the likes of Macatee, will the manager school him in the basics and insist his little flicks and wonder balls can only be brought out when we are 3 nil up?  Or just not pick him.

As much as McAtee has frustrated us at times this season, I'll stick my neck on the block and say he will have a strong role to play next season, alongside Collins, Randall and a new 'strong' forward. I think SS can mould them a bit once he has his own players in. But i think Lolos and CMG days may be numbered!

They'll both not be here by August.

Come on Schuey, post a price list up of the remaining squad members.

Maybe they should an auction like they do for cows.

Pull McAtee out on a chain and let him do some tricks and flicks to wowser potential buyers.

I think what we're looking at here is a Daniel Braaten style YouTube montage.

Agree with this, there is a player there,  but if McAtee does not improve his basic hold up play, heading and aggression, for example the Barnsley version of McAtee, he will be out.

I think the loan signings have been dire this season compared with previous seasons.......7 released does not mean they will be like for like plus Conway returning is a good start

Offering Hutchinson a deal it looks like he will be the reserve keeper next season on i imagine peanuts compared with Baxter.

I will be happy if we can loan a further three, four out. Which looks a certainty

Yep - i think 'off' a front man, all three of them have so much more to offer, and less emphasis on the hold up aspect.

Vic will

There is a world where, in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-1-3 or something else with three up top where those two could be either side of the main man.

From what SS seemed to be saying in a recent interview though he's looking for those wider forwards to be more like strong, aggressive wingers that run at people, get crosses in then press aggressively when we haven't got it. That sort of world won't have a place for either McAtee or Collins

Vicks out injured until Christmas so no way he’s going anywhere before January at least, plus I have this feeling that Schu may see a place for him here but in a different role to Evatt’s.

I don’t think it is.

7 gone; Santos, Jones, Baxter, Coleman, Etete, Murphy and Matete.

While it’s no surprise, I’m not sure what else we can expect at this stage?

If contracted players go, they’ll have to go through a more time-consuming process. This will be something that slow drops throughout the summer I would have thought.

But presumably that’s 7 spaces to fill, so a good start to kick of summer re-arranging.

I think you have just defined a damp squib, it was the minimum we could have expected.

You can to be fair. Plenty move on contracts.

They do, but it requires someone else to take them, or pay up their contracts if the club can afford it.

We may be a bit scuppered at the moment :)

Time aplenty to gey that moving of course.

Schumacher has said he wants a forward that can hold the ball up and run in behind. We definitely need that type of player in this team. Vic can do it but we need someone that can put the ball in the next from further than 5 yards out.

We’d be stupid to say that, for example, CMG has been told to find a new club, as this would reduce any transfer free. I’m sure there’s a quite a lot - CMG, Lolos, even McAteer - that we’d listen to offers for. But if the buyer knows you want to sell, the price goes down. You only show your hand when you absolutely must do; I.e. mid-late August.

I thought he was playing for the run in

They were never going to release a list of 'players under contract we'd like to get rid of'. This was always going to be the announced list, with Baxter the only real question mark!

think he started playing him last 10 game to see what he was like

think the Posh Free Kick

Was the Nail in the Coffin for him

I don’t think he can hold the ball up. He looked lost when he played this season

I'd be happy enough with Hutchinson being the back up goalie and strengthening elsewhere.

If worst comes to worst and he is needed for a period and doesn't seem up to is you can usually do emergency goalie moves.

Damp squib or not, were you expecting something more today?
