As much as McAtee has frustrated us at times this season, I'll stick my neck on the block and say he will have a strong role to play next season, alongside Collins, Randall and a new 'strong' forward. I think SS can mould them a bit once he has his own players in. But i think Lolos and CMG days may be numbered!

I'd be hugely disappointed if some absolute mugs don't come in for McAtee.

Everything I hate in a footballer that bloke. Proper wrong un

I would say it was the maximum we could have expected at this stage! 🤣

Damp squib or not, were you expecting something more today?

Yep. Today was literally both the minimum and maximum to be expected. I'm not sure what else anyone thought was going to happen?

i reckon even @desperado struggles to find a positive in him.

Can I pass 🤣

What I will say positively, is that him being injured till Christmas means it gives SS every chance this summer to find those qualities in another player, that we thought Vic was going to bring, but rarely did.

A big fella who can hold it up, win balls in the air and provide some much needed physicality.

By the time it gets to Christmas, the performing L1 prime Drogba will mean we don’t have to rely on Vic again. 😁

Fair play. The only time I’ve heard someone go all in on the Vic love was some tangerine dreamer who just hated Bod so much he built Vic up

I mean we could have heard quite a bit less, say for example if some of the out-of-contracts or loanees had been offered something.

We could be sat here today with only 3/4 definitely on their way.

The fact that’s it’s more, for me, signifies a clear intent to move away from the past, where possible and create as much space as is possible at this stage.

This intent fills me some optimism that we are looking to strengthen across the squad.

I suspect there will be more to go and /or not be considered part of our future. But this will be further down the line.

Not a damp squib in my eyes 😊

Can't see many queuing up wanting to match the length and wages of these fannies

Plenty will.

Agree with Tomski. The saving on transfer fees means teams can invest in wages. A team who might be willing to pay (say) £300k for a defender in the transfer market can get Santos for free* and pay him an extra £2k a week wages for a 3 year contract.

*Appreciate some players would want a signing on bonus rather than just increased wages.

We’d be stupid to say that, for example, CMG has been told to find a new club, as this would reduce any transfer free. I’m sure there’s a quite a lot - CMG, Lolos, even McAteer - that we’d listen to offers for. But if the buyer knows you want to sell, the price goes down. You only show your hand when you absolutely must do; I.e. mid-late August.

I wasn't actually being serious.

I like Mcatee. He needs to improve but he’ll come good if we sell him to Grimsby

Hard to distinguish the tongue-in-check comments, from those who genuinely thought about half a dozen players would be publicly placed on a transfer list!

Fair enough.

That said, I wouldn't be against everyone of our squad being made available for transfer.
Every single one of them has disappointed us to some degree : some more than others, of course.

Given how our players are so much better than any other given we have the best squad in the league should be easy to shift them all
