But I think there’s a few things bring missed by those clamouring for Forino to be dropped: - It’s one game into the season with a new CB partnership - If Forino isn’t stopping that goal, then Johnston isn’t either. - Sometimes you just have to give credit to the goal. That ball in was superb. Plenty of very good centre backs wouldn’t have done much better. The three of Toal, Johnston and Forino are much of a muchness. Very little between them. I don't think it's about which 2 of that 3 will play. I think it's more a case of who can come in and improve it Quote
boltonboris Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 No point going direct to a #9 if we don't have a #10 picking up the bits Quote

Thought his performance at Huddersfield was probably one of the best in the past couple of seasons. If he is still with us 1st Sept then surely he provides a problem for ss. Quote

But he can also be discounted, as he's out injured <shock> Quote

I'd possibly expect Gale to come in for CMG Quote

Especially with a direct competitor for his role available in Randall. Quote

Deanu Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Think when he gets the chance Randall will earn his spot as the "10" easy to forget he played his best football in the same role/formation we're going with under SS in the same setup for Peterborough with pace either side of him being Mason-Clarke/Poku/Jade-Jones/Mothersille & is just a lot more suited to knitting things together from midfield into the final third than McAtee. Lad deserves a proper chance, came in during a circus & didn't really have nobody to play off as everybody wanted to do the same thing dropping deep into the same area. McAtee flourished in a 5-3-2 as a support striker for Cole/Cosgrove, three midfield bodies behind him at Barnsley where as in this system there's obviously only two which means he has to use the ball way better he's going to have to learn the role properly if he's going to play there. I’ve still to see Inwood do anything wrong, yet no one mentions him. Let’s test our full squad out, if we’re still making the same mistakes. Quote

Bertie Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Should hopefully be decent atmosphere with over 20k sold so far incl 1500 from Plymouth (superb as always). 3pm KO always helps. Quote

I believe that was his best position at Exeter too, that got him the P'boro move. Quote
