When I was at school, in the fifth year, we had to organise the Pensioners Christmas Party. Traditionally, it was the old war time songs. We decided to bring it up to date with a combination of old and new. The highlight of the new was Ernie Heap giving a drum solo on his full set of percussion hardware. They loved it. 1970. 😊 Quote

We are going into areas that could cause problems here. 😉 Wigan Casino was the end of underground phase of the ‘scene’ Wigan commercialised what was previously an underground Soul Movement. It Started at the Twisted Wheel and spread around other Soul Venues around the north and the midlands. (Golden Torch , Tunstall) VA VA in Bolton, preceded Wigan. Richard Searling did Bolton before Wigan. It’s always been the way. 😊😉 Quote

I think Richard Searling lived near us in Tonge Fold, Tomlin Square? We were probably acquaintances....scary.. Edited November 29, 2025 by Dimron Quote

Saw Queen at Preston Guild Hall back in the day... there is a theory they named the band after playing at an open air do in Queens Park as "Ibis". Also still got a ticket stub from the Free Trade Hall... Deep Purple Front Stalls 37.5 pence (7/6d) Quote
