Zico Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 cheap as chips two or three times in the play off season he changed games played up front, played at the back scored a couple of crucial goals, notably one v watford one sunday true team player, up there with a much travelled centre midfielder we had in the mid 80s - name escapes me best moment for me was seeing his bullet header against stockport away to make it 3-3, thought he was going to rip through the net he went into the ball that hard, look on his face, sh?t me right up
HomerJay Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 NOBODY could compete with marshall in the air, and the red ginger didnt even jump...
marple whites Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 NOBODY could compete with marshall in the air, and the red ginger didnt even jump... That was superb, given that we were 3-0 down........ However, most of my mates are Stockport fans, so meeting up in the pub after wasn't pleasant due to that injury time winner !!!

Yep - Robbie 'most over-rated Wanderer ever' Elliott gave them that one Super John was stood with us in the stands - what a f?cing cracking laugh he was

That was the first away game I took my son to! At half-time he was sat on the terracing with his head in his hands. I said: "Welcome to Bolton Wanderers!" At 3-3 he was deliriously happy, but I had to warn him that a typical Bolton away day would end with a late goal being conceded!
Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Yep - Robbie 'most over-rated Wanderer ever' Elliott gave them that one Elliot for me too!
HomerJay Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 i'd say it was the other way about. elliot was a talented footballer, for a fullback he oozed class on the ball in a team full of 'clunkers', but bolton fans never really had any respect for him, mainly because he barely played because of numerous injuries.

Oozed class? I must have missed that one. Granted his injury took a lot out of him, but just hoofing the ball up the left wing (and usually out of play) meant I always thought he was sh?t.........really sh?t.

HomerJay Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 nah, that was down to todd's instructions... on the ball, the guy was was head and shoulders above any other defenders at the time... although what didnt help him was todd playing him left back, left wing, centre half, centre mid, all in the same game!

He wasn't - he was sh?te. Yet coz of his previous rep at Newcastle, people always thought was was really good?

Always has my respect for the 25 yarder he scored at Norwich in the cup midweek, we went on to win on penalties !! Worth every penny and kept me smiling on that long trek home.

MickyD Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Sasa Curcic yet. He was an OK player but the problem was, none of the players ever knew what he was going to do wiith the ball. Hence he had a mazy run. . . beat six players. . . looked up . . . saw his team mates in a much better scoring position . . . then passed it into a space that nobody was going to.
Gumbo Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Oooert Oooert Orrer!! Think he was spazzy Daren's Fave Remember Daz sat on the terrace at Swansea singing it 'collecting' toilet role and two pence pieces My choices would be Simon Farnworth, Dean Crombie and Dave Felgate
White Army Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 you must have been about 12 am i right? Well obviously if i thought that johansen was a decent player at the time i must have been 12 Its common sense that only 12 yr olds actually liked johansen
Whites man Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Wayne Foster and Simon Rudge. They did brilliantly considering that Salman Rushdie could expect better service in a Rusholme curry house than they got from that midfield behind them.

Did I correctly remember Todd once having about 7 left backs on the field at once (due to injurys and suspension)? (Gardner, Whitlow, Elliott, Aljofree, Phillips and another couple). Div 1, home, maybe someone like Sheff Utd or Gillingham.

fester58 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Paul Comstive? he was utter shite. the only thing worth note was the 2 goals he score from corners against bournemouth round about christmas time. he also stuck 2 fingers up at bolton fans at chester away ,mcginleys 1st match.
Casino Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 tell you what we were shite about then rioch came out of his time with us smelling of roses, but fook me, that was a bad spell we drew that game 2-2 i think, after being awful think same happened again a week or two later at preston?
Zozzy Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 You can't seriously name Julian Darby, Warren Joyce, Pedders and Comstive as fan's favourites. They were about as popular as Nicky Hunt. Bolton fan's favourites that were well overated as players include Robbie(show us your arse) Savage and Ivan(i've played for real madrid and say all the right things about the fans) Campo.
