HomerJay Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 (edited) Perhaps a minority never gave him a chance. But are you seriously suggesting that this is the cause of all the problems? I have never liked him and did not want him though I have never booed or demonstrated against him. He has had over 2 years at the club, spent a shed load on players and then seems to fall out with them. This happened at his previous clubs. It was well documented and should be a surprise to nobody. I have never known such a reaction by the fans towards a Bolton manager. He was the wrong man from the start and time has proved it. The real problem is the mediocre players he will leave the club with are simply not as good as many of the fans think. Just because they are young and british does not mean they have what it takes. For christ sakes buying players that the likes of Hull, Watford, Pompey, Wolves, Villa, Brum etc dont want and paying millions for them is plain stupid! They were never gonna be an improvement over the players they were bought into replace. not at all, he is the cause of his is own downfall. he should have managed the abuse much better, but the fans must take some responsibility. he was the wrong man, because the fans made him the wrong man imo. you cant seriously suggest that the abuse from the fans has not effected the club in some way? i do believe the squad is as good as it ever has been. there is certainly more depth and its much, much younger. with assets to sell. i dont recall any saleable assets under sam(anelka aside). although granted that was not entirely sams fault. i do think we are missing that one special player to make things work, but megson doesnt buy those kinda players as we know. I'm also coming round to the fact that we are probably missing a manager that can fit it all together. Im not convinced megson is capable of doing such a thing, especially in the current situation. but the way some people make him out to be the fuckin devil is ridiculous! frank_spencer Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 what you trying to say? that hes played well this season. give it a rest he is shite. ?5m for a player who cant run with the ball without twatting it 10 yards infront of him and losing it You clearly haven't been watching the same Fabrice Muamba I and most other Bolton fans have this season. The big black chap who was poor last season but has morphed into a bloody good midfield spoiler?
Zico Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 ya have to be positive, life's too fuckin short not to be. i find it easier to be indifferent and just see what happens and in any event, just think "f?ck it"

Fair enough each to their own i suppose, fair enough he puts his foot in Im probably just still in a bad mood

whiteboy Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Villa have a sell on clause on cahill according to O'Neil in the Brum Mail the other week
jayjayoghani Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Villa have a sell on clause on cahill according to O'Neil in the Brum Mail the other week http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle6906489.ece "Bolton, Birmingham City and Sheffield United were interested. Bolton paid us ?5m plus the sell-on fee. He was happy to go, we are happy and we still remain happy with the situation."
adambwfc Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Fair comment, but a bloody stupid thing to say.

I am sorry but having read everything you had said on this thread you dont have a clue Homer Megson has never been and never will be capable of being a premiership manager who could take a club forward and the squad is now full of less than mediocre players. Time for a change and to be honest I would take anyone rather than keep him I was going to Fulham on Saturday but not anymore. I like many others cant stand this dross anymore

I like many others cant stand this dross anymore I agree that Megson isn't capable of being a prem manager who could take a club forward, but i think the squad we have now is very good actually. Megson just can't get the best out of them because he is a woeful tactician and man manager imo.
Hutch Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I expected him to have a dig at the fans, he can't stop himself He started it at the beginning of the season gushing about Stokes fans and Liverpools passionate fans. It was just a underhand dig at us No manager would air the player issues like he did on Sunday. The BBC interviewer even had to ask him "er, what are you trying to get at Gary?" I think now he wants a pay off and couldn't care less

Perhaps Megson is the new Phil Neal, did the job that was required at the time, get rid and bring some one else in (I dont know who) and push us on
Whizz Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 homer, spencer, casino etc. your apathy and excuses to defend the indefensible are reasons why this inept man is still manager of our club. I cant wait for what he will say when he finally gets the boot, he will surpass all his excuses and we will be portrayed as the enemy. Its not time to go, that was 18 month ago.

C86 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 (edited) That's probably because they are petulant mollycoddled children who kick and scream when they can't get their own way. I'd imagine it's directed straight at Mathew Taylor as he seems the type. In one. Also McCann but expect Big Sam to take him to Blackburrn Edited November 24, 2009 by C86

Guest bwfcdan Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I'd say he is better than last season when he seemed to shin every ball but nothing to wank/drool over yet. He showed a lot of promise during the summer with England and has played well at times this season but a lot of the time he's been disappointing...
clown Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Megson wasn't brought in to take the club forward, he was brought in to maintain Bolton's Premiership status without rocking the boat because he had grand plans to further his career. We all saw that, and from that point all dreams vanished. To (mis)quote Homer Jay - "Life's too short not to be positive" Zombie Club.

Casino Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 dunno why you bother to defend yourself against a charge of apathy from somebody who couldnt be arsed going to the spurs game just an observation

Guest Blixa Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Yeah, interesting comments from Megson today. I think they're what you call 'keep me in the job' comments. Looks like saying we were crap, there was dressing room disunity and the fans didn't help weren't the wisest things to say in hindsight. Maybe the club's PR department should do a briefing before a press conference, not after.
Casino Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 or maybe hes now in the business of trying to build 'em up with confidence visibly low, perhaps he's more idea than some
