Underpants Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Just back from watching Dunkirk. Busiest cinema screening I've been to in a LONG time. Thankfully somehow managed to avoid knowing Styles was in it, I only knew when Mrs mentioned it at the end. All the better for it as it meant I didn't have any prejudices about the acting, and fair fucks to him he was very good playing what in any other situation would be a very unlikeable character. If comparing to Saving Private Ryan I'd say 107 minutes doesn't do it justice, but then again what possibly could? I did think more could have been done to emphasise the sheer scale of the operation though; I expected a lot more shots of thousands upon thousands of soldiers on the beach, but even doing the aerial shots it only looked like a few dozen at a time. I also thought they under did the scale of the operation; and also the roll of the small boat fleet. But having googled for pictures of the actual Dunkirk evacuation it does seem that orderly queues, and not thousands of soldiers scattered all over the place, is actually the way it was. Still, the film wasn't a bad watch. Just not as good as I wanted it to be. Quote
Underpants Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 The Kings Speech. Just watched it on C4. Never watched it before because I thought it wouldn't be my sort of thing. What a good film. Quote

Haha I never knew this was a thing! I watched "Arachnoquake" the other day starring a completely shagged looking Edward Furlong and wondered how they can constantly churn out such shit. Turns out it's intentional! Quote
Didledee Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Anyone like the recent alien movie, some cool parts but found it rather poor, obvious ending too. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Caught up on some filums recently... Creed - shite Midnight - shite Arrival - shite Her - shite Captain Fantastic - shite Birdman - pretentious shite T2 - hmmmm, alreet I suppose... Quote
QFPants Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Thought Creed, Her and Captain Fantastic were all good (all better than T2 imo), agree on Birdman though, wasn't into it at all Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) Captain Fantastic borrowed heavily from my 'Youri's guide to childrearing' so thumbs down for that alone...perhaps Viggo Mortensen was good and a couple of the kids in it too but the rest was flimsy as fook. Thought Rocky Balboa was better than Creed, but I'll upgrade my rating to 'meh'... Don't rate Scarlett Johansen, she's one of those 'same in everything' actors so it was stacked against 'Her' from the start... Edited August 10, 2017 by Youri McAnespie Quote
only1stig Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 Blood Father. Alright watch sugar tits. Quote

Thought it was very good, though confusing, google helped my thoughts after seeing it. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 It reminded me of The Martian in ways, loads of explaining of concepts etc. weaved into the story/dialogue to the detriment of the film imo...Aliens were crap an' all - Kang and Khronos. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) Moonlight, not Midnight... Surprisingly devoid of bummin' - which may or may not have influenced my shite rating. Nicked the swimming scene lock stock from The Thin Red Line too imo. Oh no, what am I saying my wife'll kill me... Edited August 10, 2017 by Youri McAnespie Quote

Zico Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 I was very sceptical about the new jungle book remake, but have to say it was very good Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Can't look at her the same way since I've accidentally seen her arsehole... I feel like The Wolf of Wall Street's dad during that scene...Like I've missed my time. Quote
