Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

No. The average Englishman found absolutely f'call to do, go to, watch, nowhere open.

2 hrs pubs opened between noon and 2pm.

Closed again until 7pm.

Shops closed, cinemas closed till 7pm., very little public transport. TV began at 22noon and was religion based. Kiddies stuff at 2pm (Tinga & Tucker Club anyone ?) then closed down again till the 6pm news, then Songs of Praise followed by non-controversial drama & shut down between 10pm and 11pm

Fck me, it was dismal.

Suddenly I'm hearing the Last of the Summer Wine them tune 🙂

You can hear that over the rumblings of the tin bath decending the hill ?

irstly apologies if this has been posted already

This is not the match but a brief news item about the Stoke FA Cup tie

Our first ever sunday game in January 1974 which we won 3-2

That's right, and if I remember correctly they couldn't charge admission money, so they charged for a programme and admission was free. There was a free turnstile at the bottom end of the Burnden Paddock.

It felt like we were doing something really bad. The bloke with the sandwich board promising eternal damnation and immediate expulsion to the fiery furnace of hell to anyone who went in. He was loving it.

Nice little montage of Conor's time here, be very interested to see how far he can go in the game

As much as I loved Brad, top notch outfield players start on loan in the championship rather than L1 more often than not.

Lower prem, top championship is where I reckon he'll flatline

That is a great find, never seen it before, cheers DomReo

Not a picture I remember seeing before. I knew all the 1st team players but only a handful in red.  I don't remember us having a black player in the reserves back then, anyone know who it is?

Probably geoff salmon, though i remembered him lighter

Used to play regular for the reserves...his mum used to come every week

Somebody scored late on

Midweek

He played up front on his own and everything stuck...def post spitting.

The stick he got just got him going

Think Diouf was still on loan for that Brum match…. ‘‘Twas a brilliant performance.

Diouf had a blinder up at Newcastle too.

David Lee at Liverpool was pretty good.
