Guest Blixa Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 They went into last season with Bolton's greatest manager and season tickets half the price of ours! How can you be Bolton's greatest manager and not win any silverware?
Guest Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Imo that's 700 pillocks. 50 quid for a regular league match takes the fucking piss. Is it better to sell 700 @ ?50 or 35,000 @ ?1 Or, indeed, does it matter at all?
smithills_gent Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 How can you be Bolton's greatest manager and not win any silverware? Because he was Bolton's manager in an era when the league was much more important than the cups and the financial constraints meant it was impossible for Bolton to win the league.
gonzo Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) How can you be Bolton's greatest manager and not win any silverware? how many bolton managers have actually won silverware? Edited August 12, 2011 by gonzo
Didledee Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 How can you be Bolton's greatest manager and not win any silverware? Technically he did, more than once.
gonzo Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Technically he did, more than once. play off winners trophy and second division winners medal?
Mounts Kipper Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Our support isn't 'piss poor'. For me its not just the numbers that are very mediocre its the quality of vocal support that is poor, I remember 5k on at Burnden making 10 times the noise at the Reebok, it is up to each and every Bolton fan to get us back to the type of support we enjoyed when we first got promoted to the premier league if fans don't have the passion you might as well not bother.
smithills_gent Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 play off winners trophy and second division winners medal? It's coming home.. http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~689818,00.html

The league's only more important than the cups if you buy into football being a business rather than a sport. If you do, you're completely missing the point of supporting a football club.

If you do, you're completely missing the point of supporting a football club. It's not just me it's Bolton's support base in general. Remember 2003/04.The semi final crowd against Aston Villa was lower then every league crowd that season. Watching the club get 3 points against Charlton was a bigger draw than a cup semi final. That was the era Sam Allardyce was manager in. Sam Allardyce turned Bolton into the best medium sized club in England for 4 years. The only club's consistently better than us were Man Utd,Liverpool,Arsenal and Chelsea. In the 50s despite Ridding doing a very good job we weren't as good as Wolves.
Didledee Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 play off winners trophy and second division winners medal? Under Sam I was thinking play-offs and Asia trophy

BOWTUN BAKED Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 For me its not just the numbers that are very mediocre its the quality of vocal support that is poor, I remember 5k on at Burnden making 10 times the noise at the Reebok, it is up to each and every Bolton fan to get us back to the type of support we enjoyed when we first got promoted to the premier league if fans don't have the passion you might as well not bother. THIS It's not helped by the lack of new or original songs, though that got ruined by the duh, duh, duh, duh, bollox drummers. They werev supposed to increase the atmosphere..... but killed it over time, AWFUL. Bands/drums etc. have no place in a footie ground, it's the fans unique & colloquail songs that cause the atmosphere, IMO, for what it's worth
Carlos Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 These days I just want to watch the game, I can't be fucking bothered joining in with "small town in..." and "your mums your dad". All seaters killed it, having no designated singing area initially where they turn a blind eye to standing and there's no cunt with a hamper moaning was the icing on the cake. We can make as much noise as anyone in an away end. If I want a sing-song every week I'll join MickyD's choir.
Gonk Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Meanwhile, Tuncay is still back in Germany while his work permit is sorted. Don't expect to see him put an appearance in on Sunday.

How about him coming straight to the stadium from the airport a la Chung Yong Lee and then falling over the ball with his first touch?
BOWTUN BAKED Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 How about him coming straight to the stadium from the airport a la Chung Yong Lee and then falling over the ball with his first touch? falling over the ball when it was easier to smash the ball in the net, at the time I thought here we go again!!! BOWTUN BAKED Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Thy need to Turkey into the EU Good idea, we've not got enough free loading Immigrants, lets get some more in that spread right across and deep into Asia, in fact now I think about it, lets tie some outboard motors to our shores, then sail the entire island round to them so we don't have to inconvenience them with the travel? So are you Tony Blair, Gordon Brown/any 'New Labourite'? Or just simple?
