Bolton Wanderers and England under 21's midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed during the FA Cup quarter-final at White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur hosted Bolton Wanderers.

Fabrice 23, received medical treatment while on the field of play shortly after collapsing in the 41st minute of the game. Fabrice was then rushed to hospital as the game was abandoned by match official Howard Webb after consultation with both managers Owen Coyle and Harry Redknapp.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Fabrice.

Update

Fabrice is stable although in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Cente at the London Chest hospital.

Don't even know why, could of easily put a Spurs player on the back but I got an England shirt with Muamba on the back today.   Hello to you lot by the way, as you probably guessed I'm a Spurs fan!

  • Retiring the shirt is the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard.

Ooh, support for Fab, contrary to one or two's opinion that it should all stop?

It should carry on until he's back in the team and then a while longer.

In my opinion,I would be very, very surprised if he plays again! However, I hope i am wrong. I just hope he can recover enough to get normality back in his life.

Clarke Carlise was out for a couple on minutes and never played again, fab was out for 70 odd mins, would this cause serious issues, only time will tell.

I hope they have found or on the way to finding out what actually caused it! Not heard anything on that yet

I agree it will be amazing if Fab ever plays again I'm not sure if they could risk him having another problem again, unless they know what the issue is and they can 100% guarantee that it's been fixed, otherwise they simply couldn't risk it or dare I say it get the insurance cover required for the player (on both a professional and personal basis)

He was in the year above me at said school. He was head boy, but my only memory of him is singing 'ABC' by the Jackson Five at the school Christmas karaoke.
