freds dad Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I haven't been in the town centre for over 10 years but keep telling myself I should go back and have a look. After reading the posts on here im disappointed to hear about how bad it has got. I'm off work next week so may have one last trip to my home town before it finally dies. Any tips on where I should go / avoid. Quote
SHAT Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 ive been to morecambe, very pleasant and no pakis Spot on!And its round the corner from Lancaster which is a good place for a night out. Quote
leigh white Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Morecambe used to be full of smackrats filling all the disused guest houses, seems to have got better of late. Lancaster on the other hand is up its own arse. Quote
Winchester White Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Morecambe used to be full of smackrats filling all the disused guest houses, seems to have got better of late. Lancaster on the other hand is up its own arse. Morecambe has its issues just like all seaside towns do. Not sure what you mean about Lancaster though, I have always found it to be a nice place with a decent mix of folk as some parts are very posh yet some very rough - its a funny place really with a fair amount of students thrown into the mix for good measure Quote
Casino Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 i think the problem we have is that the wigan miner see's folk who have aspirations to improve themselves as being up their own arse its a commie thing Quote
no balls Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 From the sounds of it there's a very thin line between scutters and being up your arse. Quote

Alf Hartigan Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 it's nowhere near as bad as folk on here make out. and every town in the country is suffering from empty/unused shops. Quote
Casino Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 nowhere near as bad alf, they've spent 1,000 million pounds it shouldn't be a case of 'not that bad' Quote

I shop in Bolton because that's where I earn my money, keep it local that's what I say. I do have to own up to Internet shopping for certain clothes but it's better than putting food on a DMB's table Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Do you have to speak like that? Yes, it's a forum with freedom of speech, it's not all about keeping bed wetting people happy, it's about expressing yourself. Quote

miamiwhite Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 my conspiracy theory is that our dumb council planners aren't as thick and backwards as we think. they're actually forward thinking and biding their time, letting parts of the town rot, forcing traders to shut up shop, hence not having to pay thousands in compensation when the bigger scheme comes into operation and our great town is once again a great place to come to. i'm also thinking that the shitbags parked up at the train station isn't just a moneymaking scheme but a long term plan to make Bolton town centre mainly pedestrianised. having said that, when the rebuild starts,i wonder if the same said wankers are taking pics all day of wagons unloading in those bays etc, somehow i doubt it. end of rant/theory,but on a serious note,it would be nice if our fine town was restored and overshadowed neighbouring shitholes once again Quote

frank_spencer Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 OK simple question what would you like the council to do? realistic answers only taking into account the global financial issues and the limits of what councils can actually do? Lets see what the great minds of wanderers ways can come up with. Quote
Casino Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 with 1 billion quid? and these global financial issues can't be used as an excuse for where we're at i admire your loyalty but its misplaced from bulk buying white lines, to the bridge, to the market hall, to farnworth, to tong moor, to halliwell shitholes Quote
frank_spencer Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 So what would you do? Which bridge? the one on newport street built to replace the one falling down under its own weight? Quote
