It's a very interesting result. But we've a way to go yet before it proves anything significant. Sadly......

excellent

I mean it will never be proof and there never will be concrete proof, but, if life as we know only produces this kind of thing then it's a strong sign

blows my mind they can even detect this

maybe they can't

maybe they just make it up to justify their day job

So did Katy Perry go to space ? Usual suspects are saying not.

been meaning to mention this for the last few days

11 minutes

don't get me wrong, I'd fucking love to do it, but the way it was reported was like they'd been on some enduring mission

apparently the rest of the crew wanted Perry to sing some of her songs but she would only sing "Wonderful World" as it wasn't about her, it was about the mission

it was essentiallty a hen party for Bezo's fiance

it shoudl also be noted it basically looks like a massive cock

They can definitely test it. It's just that this test isn't quite to the significance level for most people to regard it is proof (although it's strongly suggestive). And if it's true - then it would suggest life is pretty common in the universe.

Imagine that being confirmed in our lifetime. Magical.

Had to come back early because they couldn't get in a parking space.

aye

i have doubts about "intelligent" life such as ours

but like to think that something somewhere is out there as some sort of microcosm of life as we know it

Given the size and age of the Universe (if we believe it's as big and old as we're told it is) I'd find it more surprising if there wasn't forms of intelligent life out there either now or in the past

Probably a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

That planet could just be at the start of it's journey though. Like if someone millions of lightyears away were looking at us.

I agree. But we just don't see any evidence of it. The Fermi paradox and all that! 😁

Good move by Bezos... stick the missus and her annoying friends on top of 50 tonnes of Liquid Oxygen and hope

When they got back he chucked them behind the bins and put a note through the letterbox.

Just been having a look- the Parker Solar Probe is the fastest man made object ever.

430,000 miles per hour as it approached the sun.

That's a long time to travel 700 trillion miles.

What's that in light years?

We are viewing the past when we get this data

Until we actually see any sort of life which is not of this planet then (for me) this news is boring or incorrect.

There is actually nothing to see here folks.

But remember we are looking back in time at this planet.

Life as we see here could just be getting started and in real time it could well be much further on.

If 'they' were looking at us we'd be a gaggle of plants and trees and single cell organisms.

“They” are probably looking at Mar A Lago through their telescopes then

Just imagine they Zoom in and see some bloke shagging a toaster or some Japanese lass shitting out a giant octopus.

No wonder they all have a quick look and fuck off.

“Now then Qwargolph, here’s a planet where the dominant species has managed to put itself on a neighbouring moon. Surely a high level of intelligence. What are they doing right now?”

”Right now Voplidoshik the Kuffplang, they are arguing about whether a Liverpool league win really counts”

In evolutionary time, that's nothing.

The planet still has little apart from the soup of life, if it has anything.

Thought it was more ha ha

But still it could just be getting started like we were.

All the big brains are saying is yip, life could exist. They dress it up with numbers and words. But it's just a fancy guess. Im bored with this type of news. And I reckon plenty of others are too. I want to see actual evidence. Show me a microorganism or futuristic city's on a rock. Not a computer altered image of a space cloud that has been colourised.
