jules_darby Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Dougie that is I'm not in the pro camp at the minute but I'm willing to be persuaded (bipolar as Snoopy appeared to call anyone who's open to review evidence and then decide rather than just have a set position of positive or negative whatever the circumstance) So, for the pro-DF camp, give us the signs.... This isn't a glib request I'm genuinely interested to try an see what you see (and certainly not just a Dougie bashing thread - I just want positives please) Edited December 30, 2013 by jules_darby Quote
jules_darby Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Ok J I get that but I just want to see what the "other lot" have that's making them still believe Let's not turn this thread into the same old shite by both "sides" Quote
Juan.Kerr Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Forwards scoring fairly regularly, when they get a game. Quote
Carlos Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Nope Jules, that's the way it is, those that shout the loudest/most are correct. Even when they offer nothing. I'm not a Dougie fan, he's had sufficient time and I don't see anything in terms of improvement or progress. But it was right that he was given time. For me that time is now up. I don't see any better way e.g. get Malky Mackay, as you'd need to be on a crackpipe to think that's ever going to happen. And I'm not a boring cunt who's going to post the same thing over and over again on whatever platform I've got access to as that takes us back to the mental health thread. Quote
Sweep Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 The way I see it is that he was brought in to do a very difficult job, he doesn't seem to be doing that job very well at the minute in my opinion. Do we sack him or not? - If he went I don't think I would be overly concerned, I'm not sure who would come in though. If he's staying, and it looks like he is, then we have to stick with him until around 6 or 7 games into next season to see if he starts off next year as we need to in order to at least make it look like we have a chance for challenging for a top 6 finish Quote
Horwich Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 How long of a cintract did we give him? Quote
Pie Eater Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 How long of a cintract did we give him? Twi and a half years Quote
Wullie Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 With our lack of funds, some of the out of work managers quoted by some wouldn't come here, as we can't offer them sufficient transfer funds and I'm not sure we can afford them anyway. Ignoring the youngsters, he has tried everyone in the first team that is available, he has tried different formations etc...okay sometime sit doesn't work, but I see he is at least trying to do something. In all honesty Jules, I look at this and see he is trying, that fact that most of these players were first team regulars in the prem, and can't seem to get any form in the Championship, says more about their attitude than his lack of nouse. In a poor season, it helps my sanity to look for the positives, than focus on our obvious frailties Quote
1969 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) I personally would give him more time and no I'm not blinkered Let the dead wood go in summer and see what he does (finances allowing) If no improvement early doors next season get rid We all no his hands are tied and I don't think playing kids in a struggling team would benefit them What's his plan I don't know and neither does anyone on here I'm hoping he'll come good but all we can do is wait and see Pros. Cons To defensive at times Wage bill down. To much respect to lesser teams Not afraid to drop high earners. To much tinkering Knows were we need strengthening Plays a formation some players cannot play Hopefully learning from mistakes Good loan signings Edited December 30, 2013 by 1969 Quote
glossopWANDERER Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 positives - once on a run of form he is capable of keeping spirits high to prolong a run, if he is able to get lucky and sign the correct defenders in the transfer market i could see him being able to achieve consistent clean sheets. if he left / sacked would we be able to get better - yes even with the debt and lack of spending power we are still an attractive club at championship level. we have the ability within the squad that with adding good loans / cheap signing we should challenge for promotion in 2014/15 Quote
Guest Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 In summary Forwards scoring fairly regularly he is trying on a run of form he is capable of keeping spirits high to prolong a run Quote
Juan.Kerr Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 In my defence I said fairly regularly, qualifying it with when they get a game. Quote
Traf Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 In my defence I said fairly regularly, qualifying it with when they get a game. So, you actually meant Beckford? Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I'd say he's in credit with the recent loan signings and that's about it. Quote
Rembrandt Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I've seen 12 League games this season, including 3 away. Plus one away League Cup tie and two pre-season friendlies (one home, one away). I want the Wanderers to play good football, get good results, and finish top-half of the Championship (or higher when possible). So it follows that I want whatever owner, chairman, manager & team we have at any given time to be successful in achieving that. Sadly, at the moment, all the evidence in front of my eyes says 'no' to the question asked. And it's painful to watch. Quote
smeghead83 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Involving Moritz more, 4 goals in December for him. Pushing Ngog down the pecking order is a plus for me too. If and when he gets another chance he might be more inclined to seize it. Quote
Carlos Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 If he scores any more, we'll get slagged off for not signing Moritz up for 5 years or whatever. Quote
beer_swiller Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Sort out those two full back positions (especially right back) and we'll begin to get results, until then nothing will change. Were being torn apart by pace every week. Quote
onlyoneawalker Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Professionalism behind the scenes is back in the 21st century thankfully Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) (bipolar as Snoopy appeared to call anyone who's open to review evidence and then decide rather than just have a set position of positive or negative whatever the circumstance) To be fair, I was more referring to those who consider a win by 1 goal as the best result ever, and then are calling for the manager's head after a loss by 1 goal. I probably posted in the wrong place as I was back and forth between a couple of "heated" threads yesterday. Edited December 30, 2013 by SnoopJohnnyJohn Quote
