Yeah, my thoughts too. Given all what he'd gone through to get there, then there must have been some planning beforehand. Which made me ask the question initially- if he was intent on the suicide act, then why miss the first opportunity? Like you, I reckon he was clearly unwell, or popped up on something. Perhaps the presence of the security personnel tipped him over edge? Got to feel for those that witnessed it. Quote

The investigators really could do with a video feed in addition to audio. It all appeared to go wibble at rotation so my initial thought was a loose object on the centre console such as a phone or iPad sliding back and striking the switches (which were either worn or incorrectly installed, there has been a previous safety bulletin about these switches). But that didn't explain why it took 10 and 12 secs to recycle the switches so I started to ponder maybe a coffee cup spilled shorting the switches, it then took 10 secs or so for the fluid to clear and the switches to become serviceable again. Then I read that there was a error message on the electronic information system on the previous flight relating to the stabilisers which was entered into the tech log. What if this error message popped up again when the aircraft was rotated? Perhaps the non-flying captain reached down to isolate the system and threw the wrong switches, the stabiliser switches are to the left of the fuel and the last thing you want on take off is a runaway stabiliser (737Max style). We might never know, do you visit pprune.org? There's been a lot of night flying all over the UK recently from an RAF Typhoon squadron that specialises in testing new kit (41 Squadron) so it could be that. But! Looking at FlightRadar the last few nights there's been loads of convoys of US tankers and fighter jets heading towards the Middle East and it looks like many of them are passing directly over you. The Pegasus usually supports F-22 Raptors (when they're not broken which is often) so I think you've been getting buzzed by stealth fighters! Quote

Been going on since January, but this week has seen a constant push. Think it’s the raptors that have four engines instead of the usual two which give them the distinctive roar. Quote

Miss Barton air show too they were great days I saw the "final flight" if the Vulcan, it flew straight over my house, and did several laps of the village (it was doing Shuttleworth Airshow) - the noise was just immense. A real shame it'll never fly again Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Went in a vulcan not too long ago. Remarkably cramped inside for such a big aircraft. Great watching them fly and the noise is indeed incredible. At Southport airshow though, I felt the typhoon was louder (also two engines). Quote

A couple of years ago, and out of absolute nowhere, came a Vulcan. It flew right over me and was banking over. I swear I could see the whites of the eyes on the pilot. Absolutely fantastic seeing it like that. I was buzzing for days afterwards. I think it was probably going into Warton Aerodrome near Preston. I happened to bump into @Mounts Kipper in the Top Lock that day. He didn't buy me a pint 😉 Edited February 28 by Underpants Quote

Your memory is like mine, forever saying the other week or last year when it was yonks ago. Saw that last tour when it flew over Rivi, from the Bob Smithy, and then on over Barton. My lad took a great photo of it which ended up in the paper. An amazing sight. Vulcan, Concorde, Spitfire, Lancaster to name a few. We had a great aviation history. Quote
