  • I'm not convinced about that. He comes across as more deluded than Coyle on occasions.

Alot of todays problems are from a lack of investment in the playing squad going back about 6 years.

and :)

our running costs go way beyond first team squad wages

our income actually includes the hotel which made a significant loss too :)

Yeah I think the hotel will be making some severe losses for the foreseeable future :)

It gives us a proportional scale of what we are working with though and lets be honest it is absolutely fuck all.

I think it will be slow hard work rebuilding the whole club and getting rid of parts or improving them that aren't proving value for their money over time. Anybody looking for a fast solution from here might be better getting off at the next stop.

Although I think Dougie is a bit out of his depth you have to think had the club made the money available for say Juke and Dawson the picture could be very different. All the previous few managers got a lot of yes answers for transfers where Dougie has had a lot of "sorry we cant afford it".

Im starting to think the best option might be just to grind out this season with Dougie and we can go from there. If things get really desperate then we might have to get rid but I don't think its got there just yet.

The worry for me is how naive some of our support is. Even today there seems to be folk on here that think a loan in is a 'freebie' from some kind hearted football club.

I don't doubt for a minute that Dougie has some good players lined up to come in - and before it got blurted everywhere, Ibe might have been one of them at an affordable rate for us. But if we have nowt in the pot, then selling is the only way of buying. Worryingly, we might be in a position of selling at the death (transfer window 11pm), but not being able to buy the right players to come in. Things could get worse ahead of getting any better.

In the short term we need to do ok. In the long term, we need to start producing our own talent able to compete in the first team squad or we are screwed. Basically we need to be Southampton and not Portsmouth.

btw, even having no money doesn't mean we should allow the manager to spend what we have badly

thats another argument

when he has been able to add quality on loan our results have improved

he needs to pull another rabbit out of the hat

Rabbit! he needs to pull half a dozen camels out of the hat.

Selling at the death would free up wages for loans and freebies

Apparently arsenal will pay 20 million to loan falcao for 1 season

That's obviously a different window and a smaller pool.

I'd have said he needs to pull 2 or 3 hungry wolves out of the hat - and I don't mean players from th'owd gold pseuds.

I'd take a scabby dog if it could hold up the ball upfront on a regular basis or pass on the floor.

What about if he pulls a rabbit out of the window and puts it in the hat for later?

BEN confirmed Ibe and Clayton deals are dead...............have we reached Rasiak / Sordell levels of desperation???

So....

the supposed "quality" players didn't work out

The "hungry, honest" players are taking us into oblivion

That's obviously a different window and a smaller pool.

True but desperately clinging to positive vibes

Its probably not worth anything at all. Chelsea are only gonna let a player leave if its right for that player.

Chelsea already have 18 players out on loan. Eighteen!

1 each to Everton, Southampton, Stoke, Middlesbrough and Rotherham.

Plus 4 to Holland, 4 to Germany, 2 to Spain and 1 each to Italy, France and Chile.

And thats whats wrong with the whole system

id take butland over bogdan,

both only be here for a season and may get a few quid for bogdan

Rasiak seemed half decent at this level...

Part of Freedmans remit is to bring kids and attract other young players to the club unfortunately his style of play the poor results he is achieving are seemingly stopping the likes of Ibe signing so that's another thing he's now failing on. It really is a sad state of affairs. Thought this season couldn't be worse than last and it is looking that way.

Some of the Crewe players looked better than ours. They had pace, energy and really wanted to win. Were lacking all three.

Still only August and the main question this season is are there 3 worse teams than us in this division?

But for all that they didn't

Palace are apparently paying £1.5m to take Zaha on loan for a year

Ibe stalls on derby move as he wants to talk to Bolton. Nixon tweet
