We were deep in relegation trouble, and Coyle had over £3m to spend on a player. This player should've been someone capable of playing his part to keep us up, given that we'd just lost our valuable asset for £7m. What does Coyle do? Spends it on an unproven striker he's never seen play, and gives him about 25 minutes of action all season. For all the money we spent on Elmander (transfer fee, signing on fee, agent fees and wages), we've probably lost a lot more on Sordell in the long run. We bought two strikers Ngog, who was known for not scoring goals and a gamble on Sordell who was scoring goals but was unproven at Premiership level. There were though bigger issues. Establishing a team pattern. Coyle is just a motivator and doesn't seem to have the ability to build a team. The hard work had been done at Burnley. He was found out at Bolton.
