I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

One decent cross in from an overlapping full back and its in the net.

Only overlapping as intercepted goalie's throw rather than waiting for the midfield to find a forward pass

Off to Lithuania tomorrow for 4 days, looks like a good eastern European piss up, might give the match a miss [again]

In fairness he was there to intercept it as he had previously been forward. It was a great cross, just a pity so few others in the game.

Because the competition isn't great

And the fact he's being managed by a bloke who in his solitary season as a club manager was one of the three shittest out of 22 of his peers.

12th (of 20)

13th (of 20)

19th (of 20)

Boros finishing place in Southgates 3 seasons in charge.

So nearly right.

Jesus - I'm amazed he did 3 seasons

They're on their fourth manager since and none of them have fared any better. McLaren left an ageing squad behind (the ones that hadn't left) and Boro were reluctant to spend any money on re-building, so I'd say he did pretty well keeping them up for as long as he did.

I don't think choice of manager is what holds us back.

I agree, though I sometimes think we're a bit pretentious- trying the barca way because its 'good football'. Just play to the strengths of the players; Kane's on fire so if you want to utilise this then get chances created for him.

Interview with Kevin Nolan in this morning's Telegraph

I'm really glad he is doing well. Great player and bloke

Has he got an old bolton calendar on his wall?

Crossed my mind too, or if it's a 'personalised team mates one' as such

Spot on mate. Chuffed for him.

who do you think we will be playing this time next year ?

Apparently its a wanderers legends calendar

nolan needs some years to learn his trade, there's some good young managers who have done well at clubs in the lower leagues who have lots more experience than Nolan

I agree. I'd hate to see a second former hero (following Coyle) go from hero to zero by coming in without the necessary skills and atributes to actually make a decent go at the job. Owen Coyle got far to long to prove how shit he was simply because the crowd had an affinity with him as a former player. Don't let's shout Nolan's name too loud too soon for his sake.

Also worth noting coyle got us to top 6 and an fa cup semi final. Probably why he got time. Rather than affinity with the crowds

Knocked of the top today by the struggling Vegans.

Managed to salvage a point in the 96th minute.

If KN were to join Bolton now his judgement would be faulty.

In 2 or 3 years maybe, but the formula is right man, right place, right time.

Also worth noting coyle got us to top 6

Did he?

Did he?

6th in march rather than 6th at the end of the season

Agreed

Up until the stoke debacle he was pretty much the messiah.

It's been pretty much downhill since
