Arrested development Posted February 2 Posted February 2 This window was a 7/10 straight off the bat just getting rid of shit cunts like victor. Add in the new boys it's a 10/10 for me. Much stronger. Quote

Popular Post Tombwfc Posted February 2 Popular Post Posted February 2 Funny that last week the idea was that we'd dodged a bullet by missing out on Kenny in the summer, and Ryan Hardie was the prolific striker we need. Now Kenny is the man and Hardie is a crock. Never seen either of them play to any great degree, and there is bound to be risks signing any forward in January. If they were a sure thing they'd be playing for their parent clubs. We needed a striker, we've got one of the strikers we've had a long term interest in. Can't ask for much more than that. Let's see how it all plays out. If we all predicted now what the games, goals and general fan sentiment would be towards our new signings by the end of the season, none of us would be correct. Quote

Dr. Feelgood Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Apparently we had an offer turned down too ... "Kilmarnock have rejected a £500k bid from Sky Bet League One’s Bolton Wanderers for David Watson Bolton are keen to land the midfielder but Killie aren’t selling to sell as they see the Scotland U21 captain as being a key player from now until the end of the season Watson is out of contract in the summer". Quote
RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Unless all the new signings gel and hit the ground running we might have left ourselves a bit too much to do to go up automatically but I'm certainly far more confident of our chances than before the window opened. Quote

So three months of this player is worth £500,000? Quote

tshape Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Very good window better than anyone had any right to expect. Looking forward to Saturday now. Keep ticking over and grinding wins out while the new men get settled in then start steamrolling teams from late Feb til the end of the season. Quote
Homer Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) Got out the riffraff and brought in some very good players for this level which should enable us to push on, cement our playoff position at the minimum, and yes I think challenge for an Auto spot also. I know Bolton fans like to bitch for the sake of it haha, but tremendous window imo; far better than I thought it would be. Edited February 2 by Homer Quote
Wanderlust Posted February 3 Posted February 3 On balance, a very good window. Think it will be a while before we see all the signings playing together but the forwards are all players who have an eye for goal, the right striker instincts - something that we’ve lacked. And I’m optimistic about the young Irish defender, even though he’s the one I haven’t seen before. On that note, there are a few people on here who are quick to say how folk like me know nothing about them - even though we’ve seen them play. It’s a fair point inasmuch that it’s not possible to see all their games. But when you watch a player, you can quickly see their attributes and weaknesses - Kenny for example can finish, but what impressed me was his work rate and closing down. For a young streak of piss he’s a beast on his day. These signings have the attributes we were lacking and I can totally see why they were targeted. All in all, we seem to have come out of the window much stronger than we entered it, but now it’s down to Schumacher to get a tune out of them. He’s been backed well and he now has the tools he needs at his disposal to push on. Whether or not it’s enough for the automatic spots I don’t know, but I think we’re going to be far more competitive in a very difficult league - and especially more of a threat going forward. Bring it on. Quote

Respect to anyone who watches lots of football matches and highlights of other leagues outside of Bolton and the Premier League. They are better informed than me without a doubt. But really, there are people scouting players game after game that struggle to judge players. If you can accurately scout footballers based off limited highlights you have a talent worth millions. If you can accurately scout footballers based off limited highlights you have a talent worth millions. Physical prowess, anticipation, movement, positioning, technical skills etc are all on display though. Dempsey is a good example. He has a great leap and competes in the air with much taller players, he can finish, pass and he times tackles better than most - but a lot of folk don’t judge him on those criteria and get on his back, even when he receives a shit pass. We’ve recruited players with good attributes and it’s up to SS to create a team from them. Quote
Popular Post tomski Posted February 3 Popular Post Posted February 3 Very happy with the window. Incredibly excited about the run in. A good team. A manager who knows how to get promoted. Not a lot to dislike at the moment. Quote
