Not sure if he's more of a LB than a LWB maybe?

Yes, that's the bottom line, he's a LB and IE wanted a LWB.  Same problem for Iredale.

I'd have Ashworth or Iredale in the team before Williams but they don't have "pace" on their list of qualities.  Iredale has played some games out of position because of injuries to Johnston etc but Ashworth another mystery signing that was never going to fit in here.

He looked like he'll turn into a good player in the future but for whatever reasons he played 16 times in a 46 game season. We wasted a few hundred grand in the same type of deal on Dan after his loan after he hadn't pulled up any trees, would have been another outlay on budget for a player who's always randomly absent from matchday squads for whatever reasons. Hopefully it means we're focusing on bringing in players who are more hardened, seasoned & reliable over a long hard season.

Or, hopefully we're focusing on bringing in players who fit into a wingback system.

Rumours about we’ve signed Klaidi Lolos from Crawley town.

Heard the same earlier today.
Attacking midfielder, scored 14 last season in L2.

£300k is the rumour.

I can’t listen to that

It’s ok actually.

Actions speak louder than words.

Accepts changes need to happen.

Acknowledges it has to be better than  3rd.

Acknowledges all the hurt, disappointment and there’s only one way to address that.

Pretty honest and no sugar coating

Iredale played at lwb for Cambridge iirc. One of the points that attracted IE initially.

Depends what you want from a wing back- if it's purely pace and no great crossing/defending ability then Williams is your man. He will score a few, but also comes back onto his wrong foot at times and doesn't get crosses in frequently.

Ashworth seemed a more complete player, but without the same speed. I'm convinced a longer spell would have seen him stamp his authority on the position, but Evatt clearly saw it differently.

Which is fair enough; it is his job and we simply have to support the decision, whether we agree with it or not.

Bit of punt that if true.

Young, big and athletic. Former Greek U19 but has mainly been around the lower leagues since. Scored plenty for the likes of Oxford City but as an out and out striker. Have only seen him on the EFL highlights show last season where he appeared to be playing as a 10 - and obviously he looked OK as it was a highlights/goals show but I have no idea what his all round game is like - if Evatt does want him it will probably mean he can run a lot.

Could turn out to be a good player and he has the right age and physicality - a bit like Dan when we signed him, only this lad has decent control. But it's a punt.

Looks like a 6ft odd powerful attacking mid who has a great trait of arriving in the box to bag goals along with having some very good feet & IQ for the role. Looks like a B Tech Dele Ali when he used to be good, that is. Be interesting if he can step up because he'll need to, assume he'll be the Paris replacement

Aye

The 26 year old, comfortable playing as a left back and centre back

Did you read the full article?

The bit where it said he'd played at lwb, and left centre back for the season before we signed him?

All good points.  Iredale may have played some games at LWB for Cambridge but he's played games at CB for us and it makes him versatile and a good player to have in the squad, but he'll never be 1st choice at either CB or LWB under IE despite being one of our few leaders and having more physicality than most.
