Yes, but you'll never know as much as people who have lived it daily, and are surrounded by other professionals in the same field.

We'll also never know the intricate details of players like coaches and manager do. Last season, i watched Kyle Dempsey play two or three games where, quite frankly, the lad could barely kick a ball straight. I thought he was pissed and assumed Evatt was blind. It came out a few days later he'd done some major back damage and was playing on painkilling injections as we had no fit alternatives.

The problem with football is that all of us on here have an emotional investment. And everyone employed at the club has a financial (plus sometimes emotional investment). If you really want to know what's good and bad about our team, you're best asking a fan Crewe or Darlington, or any such team that couldn't give two monkeys about us

👍 of course.

Amazing what an non invested view looks like :D

Tbf we have battered quite a few teams in last 12 months but have not always won those games. We were losing after 88 minutes of battering Exeter.

It’s debatable 🤣

And I’m not just on about you, I include myself and everyone else in that!

As @thebells said we are too emotionally invested (well I am anyway) to be balanced and impartial.

We’d all like to think we know what we are talking about and would make a good manager. I can harp on about my achievements and successes as a youth coach, but it’s all bollocks and irrelevant to what BWFC are doing.

I’m still waiting for the 30 odd year old professionals I taught 20 years ago, to tell me how good my management and football coaching skills were, but not one has done 😂. However I’ve had a few tell me how much they enjoyed their sport and how they’ve been inspired to become teachers too, so that’ll do for me. Isn’t that right @London Wanderer 😊 (I’m stretching this as he hardly remembers me, so not the best example)

100% agree and apologies if you thought I was trying to say that I/We know better than the pros, I wasn’t, just that if we’ve been watching football all these years and can’t distinguish between something good or bad be it players or systems then we must be a bit dim? I know I am at times but can’t speak for the rest. 😀

Ignore him. Flattery, tsk.

He’s after a discount.

Is that why Evatt as seen this and brought in Randall .

So basically because we aren’t footballers or managers we should just stay quiet.

May as well shut this down as there is only @Gumbo who’s qualified to comment.

I would love us to play how pep plays and win the champions league. Reality is we don’t have the players and players recruited don’t seem to change this. Maybe the coach should look at getting the most out of his squad and not some weird formation that doesn’t work.

From A to Z in about 3 seconds there.

Opinions are great, and we should absolutely keep shouting them - I was simply saying that we don't know as much as we think we do.

But you knew that 🙂

I think he’s just a bit nowty this morning, you not able to get out running pal on these icy pavements @Big E 😂

Personally I loved maghoma and thought we made a huge mistake not moving heaven and earth to have him back here. Let’s not forget though that he went missing in games for huge spells.

Randall on the face of it looks like he could add some much needed technical ability to unlock a defence and pick a pass and receive the ball under pressure in a tight area. Maghoma was excellent at this and retained the ball really well. Sheehan is clearly talented on the ball and I believe he would complement Randall. I think our issue lies with the thomo role in this midfield as he just isn’t quite up to it. I think he’s come on leaps and bounds but has been really poor of late.

For me, a further addition of an athletic ball winning centre mid and a mobile target man would make a massive difference to our play. We’re always going to be shaky at the back as we tend to lose it in dangerous areas but I think these two further additions would get us comfortably over the line as there is just too much ability in the squad as a whole. Just missing the final couple of pieces. If Evatt see’s this and addresses it, he gets my vote to stay on (I’m probably one of the earliest and harshest of his critics).

He was never coming back as long as we were in League One (more Brentford's decision than his).

Leeds want him on loan for rest of this season. Brentford will let him go if their injury issues subside.

He's well beyond us. But I agree, we was an outstanding player post Xmas once he'd found his feet.

I'll be running up Rivi with my headtorch and ice skates on later @Big E. Pop along and we can disagree about football whilst we run 😉

As a replacement for Maghoma who was here for lots of those games.

My point is that we flatter to deceive with all the possession we can have in games so we dominate and ‘batter’ teams but concede silly goals and miss a sitter a game. It is a habit we need to break. They say good teams win when playing badly, we are the opposite.

We are not a million miles off but turning dominance into points and building confidence has to happen now. It has been going on too long to be just unlucky.

Agree, we are the sort of team that looks like we're all over sides but in reality are good at the bits in the middle third but not so good at the bits that really matter and show on the scoreboard, in our third and theirs.

Improving in one of those areas (most likely their third at the minute) would be good, both would be ideal if we're to get into play offs with momentum.

Clearly not, as you've just replied to me.

Feel we do need a new centre half coming in.

If Santos contract is up, may as well try and start that process early, Unless Evatt is looking to change tactics next year and go back to 4 at the back.

We don’t and never will. Also you got quoted as you were the last I read 😁

the ins and outs of sport is right. He will know far more than me. Knowing things and getting the best out of something are totally different.

for contrast I’ve brought neutrals to many games and they all say “why do they keep pissing around with it and moving the ball so slowly”

I’m tempted by that. Another treadmill run and I will be jumping in the Mersey.

Well spotted 😀 So he goes down in WW history as the first ever rumour on this thread, what an honour for him.  As with 99% of the others, there was nothing in it, he didn't play for anyone other than Liverpool for another 12 months when he was loaned to Fleetwood (after Wigan had a 1mil bid rejected thankfully).

Never having seen the new lad play it might be a bit harsh but feels another player who might be talented but not sure how he fits into  our system.

Add him to a list that started with Dapo, but also includes CMG, Lolos, Collins and McAtee. Even Big Vic.

Nathan Lowe on loan is one I’ve just heard.

Every time I watch the EFL goals (not every week but maybe every two), he scores for Walsall, I wondered how they had such a good player,  he's on loan from Villa apparently.  He looks above L2 level, in the same way that Barry at Stockport did last season, so it would make sense for him to get a L1 loan next.

What a signing Barry would have been if we'd spotted him before he went to Stockport. Jan 2023 he joined Salford, while we were signing Shoretire and Nlundulu.

Trying to find out about Randell, it seems that he's the Maghoma replacement which , with Morley or Sheehan leaves us a bit lightweight in midfield meaning Tomo or Matete is going to be hard pressed when we haven't got the ball......but Sheehan & Maghoma worked well last season.

Lowe's from Stoke, but yes, had a stellar half a season at Walsall, fired them to top of table. Yet another new manager at Stoke so no doubt weighing up what to do with him. I did see on Twatter that Walsall were hopeful of keeping him, though no more than that.

Would get round the squad numbers issue for us as under 21, though whether Evatt would be seeing him as a main man for us at his age in L1 is debatable, so Stoke may prefer him to stay at Walsall playing every week

Would a maghoma type player make a difference to our side with the formation ?

Sorry yes Stoke, don't know why I said Villa.

And yes, he's only going to go to L1 if he's playing every week like Barry was.  Like you, I just can't see him being a main man for us with the competition for that type of player.
