Big fucker up top to bring them into play & be a target in the box. Hopefully sign that big massive Swedish brickhouse to kick the piss out of people in the midfield & allow the others to play. Pace & physicality Not sure about that. We’ve already got 23 in the squad without this lad counting on age and possibly another couple coming in so even to get down to 22 we’d need to lose three but since Schu says he wants a smaller squad to allow our youth players to come in it suggests even more may need to go, either permanently or on loan. He may have a good look at them all in Spain then decide unless some are already working on moves? The squads really starting to look good now though and there’s real pressure for places.
July 5, 20251 yr Wouldn’t mind an experienced solid centre back. Our defence is clearly not good enough Edited July 5, 20251 yr by superkev

Notable that a lot of our signings are youngish with development potential. Exactly what SS has said he wouldn't do. He wants hungry players with ambition. He wants chaps that will form a strong bond with lots if camaraderie. He, and the club are also aware that we will need to develop, and trade players.

July 5, 20251 yr Morley taken off in friendly against Tranmere in second half no reason given maybe a bid is in?
July 5, 20251 yr winger Amario Cozier-Duberry has joined Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old winger spent an injury troubled season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he made 23 appearances for the Championship club.
July 5, 20251 yr Half the reason we did so poorly in defence last year was the way Evatt had the team set up, the midfield 2/3 was packed with light weights, who other teams knew they could just bypass or bully. This for all intents and purposes mean't we didn't have a midfield from a defence perspective. So all the attacking pressure was put on the centre backs, this did a few things. It caused injury and made the defence look incompetent with mistakes, this caused a drop in confidence which created more mistakes. Toal, Forrester, Farino and GJ didn't go from being leading league 1 centre backs to being rubbish over the course of the 10 weeks between the end of the 23-24 season and the 24-25 season.
July 5, 20251 yr Looks like we had a trialist goalkeeper playing against Tranmere Rovers https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/pre-season-friendly-wanderers-1-1-tranmere-rovers

A bid came in during the second half, and someone nipped to the dugout to let SS know and told him to take him off? Just want to make sure I understand this reasoning!

I guess you’re interpreting “baggage” as being folk with attitude or psych problems as opposed to having a history of injuries which the comment was in direct response to? I was making the point that quality injury free players tend to be out of our price range so we’re gambling on sick notes - including the two wingers we signed -although the Brighton lad is a loaner. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep them available - and if we can the squad is shaping up nicely. Thats the gamble. Edited July 5, 20251 yr by Wanderlust

He has also commented about the number of injuries, and wants players who can put more time on the pitch. This will be even more appropriate given a reduced squad. Who says quality, injury free players are out of our price range? Given the amounts were have spent over recent times, I'd suggest we are capable of doing that more than most of the other league one teams. We're not looking for world beaters. It is clearly obvious that SS doesn't believe in your approach, and has said so beforehand. Any transfer is a gamble.
