Good decision. Wasn't good enough and was too small.

It feels so strange to be announcing transfers on a weekend

Iles confirms we'll be seeking a replacement, which is good news because I think it'd have been a mistake to rely on Hutch as the understudy

I'd like us to sign a veteran keeper tbh,

Did we get a fee for Southwood ?

Iles talking up a LB, forward and replacement keeper as the next incoming deals. Maybe that means Ceesay is no longer a priority.

I actually think GT would make a good LB. He's athletic , good left foot, combative and isn't small. I think he might suit it in the same way nunes at city has since playing there. He'd have more chance to use that left foot to deliver balls into the box. Now we have a proper target to get on the end of them.

Not keen on that. Thinking about how many times he is late to the challenge in the middle of the park, would happen more often against wingers and be far more disastrous when it does. Suppose it still might be the best backup option if we can't find anyone else.

When, & why, has everyone decided GT is a full back ... assuming he's not pensioned off & converted into a ball-boy and 4th choice keeper ?

Same way folk decide ingwood and sharples will be of some use

Suggestions that the trialist keeper yesterday was Jamie Jones

This could be the either the best or worst prediction I've ever made but think JDC will end up being our best player this season, playing on the overlap with a winger in front. Saw signs of it looking good at the end of last season.

Looking at our squad at the moment would guess 4231 would be the best fit. The below list isnt what I'd have in an ideal world, with LB and another striker being priority. All other positions I think we're either good or can get by.

LB - New player, Johnston, Thomo

RB - JDC, Des (with LB playing more defensive if hes in)

CB - Taylor, Forino, Toal, Johnston

CMs - Simons, Morley, Dempsey, Thomo

AMC - Sheehan, Randall, CMG

AML - Gale, Mcatee, Schon

AMR - Amario, Des, CMG

ST - New player, Dalby, Vic

Not needed/try to sell - Lolos, Forrester, Dan

Don't mind selling - Schon, Toal, Thomo, Mcatee, Vic, Johnston

OK. I did it.

He's the 36yr old Salford keeper, previously of Orient.

Maybe he was just available for a knock about.

If we're looking for an experienced back up there'll be more experienced, higher grade ones around.

6FT and an Northern Ireland international! Your logic?

6 feet isn't that big for a keeper these days.

Anyway, he's gone now, so it's water under the bridge.

You don't think Inwood will be?

I agree he wasn't quite good enough, but its only a good decision if we get someone in at least as good.  Hard to imagine us getting a better keeper as a no.2 really, but we'll see.

I'd be interested to know how many times you've seen Inwood play. Just what are you making your decision on that he's not going to be good enough.

Inwood played ok in the couple of dead rubber games at the tail end of the season. No reason that he'll be anything more than 6th choice CB.

So because he wasn't MOM, he won't make it.

That’s the problem though southwood didn’t want to be a number 2 he as gone to Bristol rovers to be there number 1 . To get a decent keeper who is happy to sit on the bench your looking at one at the tail end like when we had Matt Gilkes

Not said he won't make it. But at the moment he's 6th choice CB or at best 3rd choice left CB. It's up to him and the club to work out if his career would benefit more from staying here and playing the odd Sherpa Van Trophy game or dropping down the divisions to go on loan and get more game time. Look at Conway went to Crewe and proved himself.

Historically were a club that doesn't seem able to bring through youngsters.

You’ve missed Conway off for LB

Think they've been smoking crack.
