July 14, 20251 yr Blackpool have an offer on the table to bring Jerry Yates back too who Swansea only want 800k for, that'd be a hell of a coup for L1 level seeing as the lad bagged 20 goals the last time he played in this league. Bagged a fair amount in the champ over the past few years also

Him and Ennis would be a hell of an attack for L1 They've painted our stand and put some new seats in. Bloke didn't laugh when I said our lot will wreck the gaff in a few weeks
July 14, 20251 yr Is it just me or does it seem like a few others are signing more exciting players than us ? Huddersfield are splashing some cash . Feels a bit underwhelming at the moment.

Feels a bit underwhelming at the moment. We were pleased with McAtee being signed on the whole. We paid decent money for others too. Didn't exactly work out. Of course Huddersfield, and maybe Blackpool seem to be attracting attention, and the former chucking money around, but if we don't have that amount available, then I'd rather live within our means, and build gradually. Were Plymouth rolling in it when SS got them up? Edited July 14, 20251 yr by Tonge moor green jacket

July 14, 20251 yr Looks like Huddersfield are signing Lyndon Gooch from Stoke on a free so I wonder if that will stem the interest in GT?

July 15, 20251 yr I think Huddersfield will come a cropper. They are clearly spending big but I have a feeling what they are buying will be wrong. Like they are buying the wrong players to be out of this division.

They did though shell out on Taylor and Dion last year so they may rely on them before spending more?
July 15, 20251 yr I can smell one of those one seaon rivalries like we had with Bradford and Scunthorpe.

They did have Ryan Hardie, Niall Ennis, Bali Mumba, Finn Azaz and Morgan Whitaker (and Cosgrove). No idea if SS signed them or inherited them but if we had those now it would be a crime not to be in the top 3 or 4.
July 15, 20251 yr Isn’t there a thread for other teams signings? That said this would be like the Mary Celeste if it was restricted to ours.

Yes lusty but I’m sure there’s plenty of work going on behind the scenes, both in and out. The Ceesay thing looks dead in the water and other than Kenny from Celtic no rumour on any more strikers though I do wonder if there may be some Premiership loans lurking? It would help if we could move a few out and get wages off the books and even some cash in if the Forrester and Thomason rumours are followed up. I think the word is patience, I’m sure SS and Fergal have things well in hand.
July 15, 20251 yr I think the Dalby injury has taken a bit of the edge off the optimism for the time being, bad luck, bad timing and awkward for SS and his team, who no doubt anticipated a lot of the pre season work being based around him being in the side from game 1. We fucked up big time last season (as did Hudds, Rotherham, Barnsley, Posh), and if the reshaping of the squad has to be pretty much cost-neutral we'll have to suck it up. Hudds fucked up as badly as us but have a big daft bloke happy to toss a wedge after another tilt. Blackpool are, arguably, going about things in the way we were a couple of seasons ago, building smartly without going daft. Their issue may be managing what might be heightened expectations from their fans if they don't pull any trees up in the first couple of months.

July 15, 20251 yr On paper I like Blackpool's business so far. I think they will be in the mix this season. They are going for established players in the main. Not much sell on value with Honeyman and Horsfall , but they should be quality league 1 players next year. They've also just signed that palace player we were linked with , the young RB

Time will tell on how these gel & what later deals arise but for now it seems Evatt & Markham's wasteful spending is catching up with us.
