July 12, 20251 yr Context: they’re playing Hitchin Town. National League: No National League South: No Southern League Premier: No Southern League Division One! They are at the same level as Atherton Collieries. When we play Atherton Colls, we send a combination of our B team, supplemented by academy players, to replace those B team players involved in our first team friendlies!
July 12, 20251 yr Fair play to AC, he’s a very good player and you’d expect some stellar games but wait until it gets tough and I think you’ll find him go missing just like he did here. He plays when he wants to and will never change.

He's good but we need better right now.

I still think there’s a proper player in Forrester, and if he could stay fit then he was one that could have been a good example of the moneyball method - going to a decent champ club. But he can’t stay fit, and he’s still a bit green in this league and so if we get a decent offer then he’s another that I wouldn’t be too arsed about. Take the cash and spend it all on a striker that will get us out of this fucking league! Edited July 13, 20251 yr by Eddie

Hitchin Town are my second team because that's where I lived when I first moved to the south. They are a comfortably bigger club that Atherton Colls. They got relegated to a league that is below their level at the end of last season. Average gates are 500-700. A few seasons ago they were within an ace of making it to National League South in the play offs.
July 13, 20251 yr In other news, Andy Carroll has signed for dagenham and Redbridge. 36 years old. I thought he retired years ago

If we’re playing 4 at the back then I reckon we’ve got enough centre backs with the 4 remaining. Centre mid - depends how you look at it, we were after one before this. If GT left we’d still have 4 centre mids (incl. the new one), plus Dempsey for the 10 games a season he’s fit for. Probably right actually but I’d say a youngster on loan rather than having to spend on a first teamer.
July 13, 20251 yr 750k for GT I would tell them to fuck off do what Peterboro do if they want him make them pay ! As for Forrester he does have injury problems so not to fussed about him leaving but I would hope we would negotiate a sell on clause just in case .
July 13, 20251 yr Would he actually want to go to Huddersfield though? We accepted £1million for him a couple years ago and he could've stepped up a division but decided he'd rather stay with us. I suppose if he's told he'll not be in the starting 11 if he stays it could push him into leaving.
July 13, 20251 yr Usually, at this level, the bids you receive are for names that have been circulated.

Richard Taylor seems to be being counted in as a left back. If Forrester leaves that leaves us with Johnston, Toal (not a great fitness record), Forino (even less of a fitness record), Inwood (promising but two games in to his professional career). That is flimsy.
July 13, 20251 yr We have lacked leadership for ages Not Bothered about the position but we do need to sign a ‘captain’. SS referenced this at end of last season a couple of older heads are needed.

He did say in his interviews in Marbella that he was looking to sign some characters and personalities as well, so it seems it's on the agenda
July 13, 20251 yr Do like forrester but can’t recall a run of games with him starting in the first 11 which says it all, so if he’s also generating funds it’s toodle pip.
July 13, 20251 yr Seems to be more info on who's leaving than arriving at the moment. If these vague rumours are true (remember there must still be a few people around who read Sunday papers) then more than 50% of last years team will have been cleared out. Not a bad thing except I would have put McAtee at the top of that group. I would rather not see GT or Forrester sold and I can't understand ever doing business with a potential rival, so I wouldn't sell anyone to either Huddersfield or Stockport except for McAtee. July 13, 20251 yr Reckon his hamstring injury before the Spain trip was bollocks if they were expecting a bid
